Quick note, this is a fictional story so the timeline might not match up all the time. I hope you enjoy! Also, if something is in italics, it's either someone's thoughts or a flashback.

I rolled over and smacked my alarm clock. The clock read '6:01'. I never thought that at 22 I would have to deal with the first day of class jitters again. "Whose idea was college anyways?" I asked myself. When I remembered that this was all my idea to "better myself" I huffed. Reluctantly, I sat myself up and stretched, taking in a large breath of air. I slumped back down to my pillows that had perfectly molded to the shape of my body.

After more than five minutes of wrestling with myself, I made it out of bed. I took a few sleepy steps and found myself in front of the mirror that I hated so much. My hazel eyes critically scanned what it saw in the reflection. I had had the same short, wavy brown hair since graduating high school. Somehow I could do anything to my hair and it always looked the same. I had always been healthy looking for my 5'5" frame, but simultaneously bigger than I would have liked. In summary, my appearance had not changed since sophomore year of high school. Besides my hair changing cut and color every time I got bored, that it.

I tore myself away from the mirror in order to get dressed. I decided on a black dress with a white collar, a gray pair of tights, and I dark pink cardigan. After putting on light makeup and curling my hair, I grabbed my combat boots and headed out the door.

I swore under my breath as I looked at my schedule for my new college. My first class of the day starts in 6 minutes and I have no idea where the 'Peakmen' building is. "You're an idiot for not figuring out where your classes were last night" the ever convincing voices whispered to me. And I had to agree.

I started anxiously walking down a ghost town of a hallway looking for any signs, maps, or people to ask for directions.

"Hey, can I help you find something? You look like you're lost" a smooth, but nervous voice spoke.

I glanced up from my schedule that had been preoccupying my thoughts to see a guy about my age leaning up against a doorway. He had curly brown hair, styled in what I'd guess you'd call a mohawk. He wore faded black jeans with holes in the knees and a zip up maroon hoodie. But the most noteworthy thing about him was his smile. It was more a smirk than a smile, but instantly it made me feel okay.

"Um, yeah. I'm trying to find Biology 103 in the Peakmen building. It's my first day here." I explained hopelessly as I walked closer to him.

The boy let out a small laughed "you're about a 3-minute walk away. I'll show you where it is." He said as he started walking down the hall, I thanked him under my breath and began to walk with him.

"So" I tried to break the silence as he walked me down winding halls "I'm Allison. How long have you been a student here?"

"I'm not actually enrolled. My best friend is." He gave no further explanation of why he was here, so I let it go. We continued to walk in silence, I couldn't think of anything to say. He gave a shy smile as we approached a door

"Well here we are, it's the first day so don't be too hard on yourself for getting miserably lost and needing to call on the help of a dashing stranger." He said this quickly and flashed an award-winning smile and then speedily walked away. I didn't have time to thank him or even ask his name. As he walked away I could hear him muttering to himself "'dashing stranger' why did I say that? Because you're an idiot that's why". I could tell he kept talking to himself but he was out of earshot.

I smiled to myself and slipped into my new classroom. I saw a room full of people all staring in rapture at a small boy (he couldn't have been much older or taller than me) with short brown hair, baggy clothes, and deep brown eyes stating: "And that is why evolution is comedically untrue." He took a small bow as the professor told him that that was enough and to go back to his seat. By this time I found an empty desk in the back, the boy that was speaking came and sat down at a desk next to mine. He gave a half smile and returned to his open textbook on his desk.

Since biology was my only class that day, I was navigating my way back to my car not two hours later. As I was walking down the same hallway I walked in from, I saw my dashing stranger standing in a group of people, he wasn't talking and didn't even look like he was listening that much. When he saw me he flashed a small smile. I smiled back and shyly waved. He's very sweet. I thought as I almost ran into a wall.

For the rest of the night, glimmers of him waved through my mind, each time making me smile more and more. I hoped I would see him again, I thought as I drifted off to sleep that night.
