Josh POV

I pulled up in front of the Peakmen building at 3:04. I knew that would probably stress Allison out that I was late so I got out of the car as quickly as I could to go find her. It was an unusually hot day for it being mid-September. "crap" I thought as I could feel myself begin to get to sweat a little bit. I had tried really hard to look nice. I had on my brand new skinny jeans, a black short sleeve button up and my backward baseball cap since I couldn't manage to get my hair to conform to anything that would be called "tame". I took one look at myself in the window of the car "Not bad." I thought before heading off to find Allison. By the time I reached the front of the building it was 3:07.

It was unlike her to be late if she could help it. I waited another minute or two before re reading our texts to make sure I had gotten the time right. I called her, no answer. I grew increasingly nervous and began to pace. "She stood you up. She never cared." my thoughts whispered convincingly. I was still pacing, I reached almost the back of the building before I saw her. She was sitting on the lawn that surrounded the building. She sat looking very peaceful under a tree reading a thin book. I walked over to her, she didn't look up. I sat started to sit down next to her and she jumped a little bit. "Shit Josh," she said as a grinned at her.

"Hey, did class get out early?" she looked so cute.

"Not exactly, I just was having a hard time paying attention and I felt like I was going to have a panic attack. So I left and thought I'd wait for you hear and read" She said this while still looking down at her book, almost like she was embarrassed.

"Okay," I chose not to ask her about her anxieties right now, "What book are you reading?"

"It's a play called All My Son's by Arthur Miller. It's for an English Lit class Tyler and I are in." She said this with enthusiasm that made her eyes light up.

"I think Tyler was talking about that the other day when we were talking about possible band names," I replied as she started to pack up her things.

I jumped up so that I could help her get up too.

"Still up for coffee?" I asked remembering that she was feeling anxious, "we can do something more relaxed if you'd like." She bit her lip and paused before saying, "as long as you don't let go of my hand, I'm okay with anything." A blush rushed to my cheeks, I didn't even realize that I was holding her hand. I must not have let go after helping her up, but I'm glad didn't.

"Promise," I said in a low voice and gave her a half smile. My eyes were focused down at her small hand clasped in my much larger one and how natural it felt.
