"F*ck!"
That's the first thing I heard coming from Mason's mouth instead of a greeting. He slumped in the chair next to me, pouting. I placed my fork slowly on the table while I exchanged confused looks with the rest of my friends. Whatever was bothering Mason, it sure left him breathing a string of colorful curses.
"Um...Mason?" I apprehensively called his attention. "What's wrong?"
"Haven't you heard?! Or even cared to watch the news?" He waved his hands brusquely in a very dramatic way.
"Mason, stop it!" Tori hissed embarrassed by her brother's act.
"Stop it? STOP IT! Don't you know either! You would be as furious as I am if you knew!" He kept yelling and gaining most of the cafeteria kids' attention.
"Well would you f*cking get on with it already?!" Brad asked as exasperated as Tori.
I've never seen Mason so riled up since he missed out Justin Bieber's concert two years ago.
"Alright, then let me enlighten you. What was Emily's birthday present?" Mason asked with a mocking raised eyebrow.
"What? Those stupid suggestive shirts you have her?" Tori asked in the same manner.
"No dumbass, her father's birthday present that involved most of us—sorry Drake." He threw a quick glance at Drake.
"I don't even know what the hell you are talking about man." He shrugged and took a sip of his coke.
"Emily's father paid for cruise tickets for the four of us." I smiled at the thought of going away to the Bahamas, but it quickly vanished and a frown took place. Drake's not coming with us...I don't want to go. I know it sounds egoistical from my part, but as stupid as it sounds I don't want to go if he's not going. It's been two weeks since I realized I love Drake. I haven't said anything of course, too afraid of rejection and I think it's a little precipitated. I've settle for letting it all out when the right moment comes. Our relationship is good right now and I'm happy. But of course, something was bound to happen since I can be happy for so long.
"Really?! No!" Tori screamed in a melodramatic way. Apparently, Mason communicated his big news, but I missed them because of my fleeting thoughts that most of the time lead to bigger ones.
"What?" I asked confused, desperate to know what it's everyone's upsetting about.
"Oh Lord, she has gone in shock." Mason said with a worried expression.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Now I was getting mad for them to make fun of me and not letting me know.
Drake turned to me. "Apparently your cruise has been canceled due to an upcoming storm." He was trying to hide it, but Drake's clear irritation could be seen a mile away. He was definitely mad of the fact that I didn't mention anything to him before. To be honest, I completely forgot about it.
"Oh" was all I could muster. I had all these mixed emotions. One part of me was sad of the fact that I wasn't going on the trip while the other was happy that I wasn't going to be away from Drake. Right now, the latter was looking quite like a possibility, trip or not. Drake was now looking at his food with a clenched jaw. I felt guilty.
"I know! This sucks! And here I was planning our weekend drenched in alcohol and possible food poisoning." Mason huffed and shrunk on his seat while crossing his arms like a scolded child.
"Mase I'm sure dad can fix it for us. It could be arranged to another time." I said all of this not taking my eyes away from Drake, expecting a reaction.
He just kept looking at his food in the same manner as before not even glancing my way.
Right on that moment his cell phone began to ring. He took it out of his pocket and frowned at the screen, letting it ring for a couple of seconds.
