HONK!
"Holy sh-"
Thud!
"Rise and shine motherfuckers!"
My heart was literary on my throat. I woke up, and sat up like I've just been catapulted. I frantically looked around the room to see what the emergency was. I was so confused. I was in the living room. Then, I remembered that my friends decided to stay here for the night and we all crashed in the living room. Then, my eyes landed on Mason who was rubbing his head all tangled in his sheet. Clearly he fell off the couch after that excruciating sound. Finally, my eyes landed on Matty who was laughing his ass off, still clutching the blow horn that today he decided to use as an alarm clock.
"You're so dead." I gave him a flat look before I threw myself at him, quicker than the Flash I must say. Matty ran like a maniac. He was still laughing but kept running. Damn, I couldn't even catch him and he was laughing which made him a lot weaker. When I thought I had him, he quickly jumped out of the way and went upstairs like a bolt.
"I swear in times like this I wish I was an only child!" I shout to him from the bottom of the stairs. I was mad, well mad is an understatement, I was furious. Call me crazy, but I was definitely not a morning person.
"Hey, the rest of us haven't done anything," Jake complained walking down the stairs.
"Exactly! You could've caught him for me to murder him." I frowned at him while I followed him to the kitchen.
"Nah, you know Matty is too much to handle, and I'm not so eager to get a dead wish any time soon," Jake said smirking. He, as well as I, knew that Matty was the prankster of the family. His paybacks would be atrocious. Trust me, I know, but this time it was totally worth it.
"Want some coffee?" Nate asked already dressed with his cop uniform, well, swat uniform -to be specific. I nodded and sat on one of the barstools. "Hey, and happy birthday, grumpy," Nate said while handing me the mug and kissing my forehead. "I'm sorry I can't be with you today. I will definitely make it up to you." He had his apologetic look that I couldn't say no to.
"It's ok. I guess I can survive one birthday without my big brother." I shrugged but he clearly caught my mood. I was sad that he was not going to be here.
"Hey Em..." Brody spoke with a very soothing tone while walking to the cabinet where the cereals were. He was always so comforting..."Stop frowning, you look constipated."...and an ass the next.
"With Matty's thoughtfulness and your endearing words, this is bound to be the best birthday ever!" Every word was dripping with sarcasm. I began to drink my coffee when I heard grunting coming over our way. Mason came looking like hell still rubbing his head and mumbling incoherently. He sat next to me and placed both his hands on his face, covering it.
"I. Need. Payback," he mumbled through his hands. "And. I. Want. It. Now!" He banged his fist on the countertop for dramatic effect.
Jake snickered. "Dude, you sound like a commercial."
I laughed and looked at Mason. "Easy there Tarzan. We will, but I need you coherent." I got near him, narrowing my eyes. "How many fingers do you see?" He gave me a murderous look.
"The ones that I'll be shoving through someone's ass!" he shouted, clearly not a morning person either.
"Okay, okay, jeez. But just for the record, yell at me again and I'll pound you unconscious," I said with a deadpan look.
Mason threw one arm over my shoulder. "Just joking Em. Happy birthday." He planted a big, popping kiss on my cheek.
"Sure you are. Probably avoiding a hospital visit again, aren't we?" Jake smirked while frying some bacon and eggs.
