Won't Give Up

Chapter 13

"Yeah we got your letter. Harriet said it was a lie. Then her and Brook fought and you can figure out the outcome." Makenna said.

"So Harriet lied. What was my rule about lying?" I said turning to Harriet.

"I don't know. I never listened to any of your dumb rules. You were a horrible leader. I was doing the right thing by leaving you in the maze to die!"

I let the string go and the arrow flew. She scream and fell to the ground. But it didn't hit her. What a coward. The arrow land in the ground at her foot.

"Now, I'm the leader. You disobey me or try to challenge me my next arrow won't miss. We are moving on to the Safe Haven and while we walk I want to know exactly what happened to Thomas. Also when the boys catch up none of them get hurt. Let's go! Makenna you lead the group."

We walked on in silence. I glanced back every now and then to check on the boys. Sort of glad they aren't too close. I have time to prepare for Minho's rant the he will for sure give.

As we walked Brook filled me in on what happened to Thomas. That Teresa and Aris took him and they never came back. I didn't even notice that Aris was gone.

"How did Teresa become leader of the group?" I asked.

"She said that you were alive and that she hated you. Harriet loved her on the spot. I'm sorry I didn't believe that you were alive. I saw all the blood at the cliff myself. Your blood and that was a lot. I'm also sorry that I couldn't beat Harriet."

"Your fine your fine. I'm not mad about anything." I put my arm around her shoulder. "I glad you girls are still here. I've got my friends back."

We continued to walk as the sky grew darker. Owen was walking with Mai, which I found out that they are brother and sister. I just want Thomas back and then I'm going to destroy WICKED.

"Brook when we get to the Safe Haven we are going to destroy WICKED."

"I know. Makenna already thought of a plan. But," She whispered. "It is not very good."

"Well talk when we get to the safe haven and when the boys-"

"Ashton!" Makenna yelled from the front. "You want to come see this!"

I made my way to the front and stopped next to her. She was pointing to a stick in the ground. I moved closer and read the strip of paper.

"Welcome to the Safe Haven" I read aloud.

"I'm so fucking done with these assholes!" Makenna yelled at the sky.

I stood back up and faced the group. I pulled an arrow out of my sheath and raised it in the air.

"We are going to end WICKED once and for all!"

Then I jammed the arrow into the ground as the group began to holler.

"We are know at war!"
