Chapter {10}

NO ONES POV

It had been a whole school week. 

An entire week of school.

 And Lucy still acted like there was tension between her and Natsu. Anytime he'd try to say something to her, she'd respond in a short and vague way. He'd try and visit her room and she'd shoo him off. In fourth bell, where they sat right by each other, she didn't seem to notice him at all. And it drove Natsu absolutely crazy.   

He could not understand why she was acting this way for the life of him. And if he asked her, he knew she would avoid the topic completely. He was confused and a little hurt that she was acting this way, but he never showed or admitted it.

It was Friday and it was second bell. In this class, they were working on a science project. Lucy was teamed with Gray and Natsu with Lisanna. (Yeah...one of those classes.)  

Lucy and Gray worked silently together, they had a pretty close brother and sister connection with each other which made them pretty good partners for the project. Lucy was mixing a blue liquid with a green one when Gray spoke up. 

"So, I notice you and Natsu aren't looking too close these past days." He says leaning on the lab table.

Lucy slightly flinches and finishes pouring the liquid. "What are you talking about?" 

 "You know what I'm talking about." He says.

Lucy looks over to Lisanna and Natsu. She purposefully avoided Natsu when it was time to pick partners cause she knew he would ask her. Lisanna was her new friend an she felt wrong being around Natsu when Lisanna liked him before she even knew him. She avoided him to avoid him getting closer to her than he was to Lisanna. 

"I really dont know what you mean, I'm just gonna ignore you and finish this project." She says with a small amount of annoyance in her voice. Then she leans over and starts working on the project again.

"Lucy, seriously! He keeps on asking me questions about how I get Juvia to stop being mad at me, as if I don't know hes asking because of you." Gray says. 

Lucy remains unresponsive, like the project is just so interesting.

Gray scoffs at her ignorance. "Could you at least tell him why you wont talk to him?" 

Lucy finally finishes the concoction as the tall cylinder that the liquids are in, turns into a rainbow of colors. Lucy turns to Gray. She knew it was wrong to just ignore Natsu, but she didnt want to betray Lisanna. That may not seem like such a hard thing to admit to someone, but for some reason she dreaded that she had to do it.

"okay." She answers giving him a small smile. Gray nods giving her a smile about the same size. 

Grays eyes advert from her to the left to see Natsu and Lisanna excitedly cheering about their project. It turned out the same way Gray's and Lucy's did. Lucy turns around, following Gray's gaze. 

"Natsu, we did it!" Lisanna says hugging him around the shoulders. Natsu smiles at her and hugs her back. Lucy shudders from the sight and quickly turns towards the front to ignore the two. Gray notices this, raising an eyebrow at the sudden gesture. Though he says nothing.

Everyone begins gawking over how wonderful their projects looked until the bell rang, finally dismissing the class. Lucy hurried out. She'd had enough of Lisanna and Natsu flirting. Though she mentally promised herself she'd talk to Natsu fourth bell. Just so he wouldn't be clueless to why she was acting so different.
