Cancer?

We walk out of class as usual and head to our lockers, finally the end of the day! The year 12 Ball was coming up, and us girls have to go through the trouble of finding a dress, getting our makeup done and all that crab. We had finally reached the last week of school, where all the big exams take place that answer the question of whether we were going out to college or straight up working. 

"you wanna do something tonight?" Mason smiled, "uh sorry I've got the exams to study for, if you haven't realised they're pretty important because not do they put you into a college it affects the rest of your life." I laughed, "yea well I'll just study for them later." he shrugged. "These exams are not just any exam Daniel, this tells me what job I'm going to get" Cacey snapped at Daniel, "it looks like they're having the exact problem" Mason smirked. I rolled my eyes locking up my lock, "and what's similar is that you guys are the ones not wanting to study." I said facing him. 

"Hey Tatiana, you want to text me tonight so we can study for this physics stuff?" Abril says walking out from her locker row, "Oh please add me in the chat please! I need help on that physical motion stuff." Cacey groaned, "and us boys are going out to the arcade to play around" Daniel said head locking Mason and Caleb on either side of him, "yea boys" Mason exclaimed. "aye we should drag along Sam, he'd be great fun!" Caleb said, "yea because I wanna beat him at that basketball game, this time fair and square." Mason  said, "alright you guys go waste your time on that crap, we'll be studying" Caitlin says walking in. "Are any of you guys going to catch the bus like now?" she asked, everyone says yeah but me, "you guys just wanna crash my car?" I said. "Are you serious?" Abril says, "yea why not?" I smiled, "see you guys" I waved to the guys, they all waved back and we walk towards my car, "does anyone know where Abigail has been lately?" I asked, "Oh my god we've been so stuffed up in this mess we haven't even been able to update Abigail on this!" Cacey groans, "I saw her this morning when I was trying to find Caitlin" I said opening the boot up, everyone shoves their bag in. "Did she look alright?" Abril asked, "what do you mean, she looked fine." I said trying to remember what her expression was.

"Well guys great news and we're sorry we have to break it so late." Abril starts, "what do you mean we?" Cailtin asked, "We as in me and Abigail." Abril says opening the car door. Me and Cacey shoot looks at each other. "Abigail has been diagnosed with stomach cancer." We all stand there in complete shock, "No she can't it's the most important year of the whole of all years" I said, "I know" Abril says, "why was she at school then?" Cacey asked, "she was packing a lot of her books but I thought it was just homework" Caitlin went on. "oh my god Caitlin did you ever ask yourself what time of the day it was?" I hissed, "Oh my god I'm such an idiot" she laughs. "We should go visit her like now" Abril says. We all nodded and hopped into the car with me driving. "Shit where's Tayla" I shrieked, "she's with Shawn" Caitlin says pulling out her phone, "what the hell is she doing with Shawn today?" Cacey exclaimed, "Tayla is one odd person, who knows what she's doing" I said winking, we all crack up laughing, "Abril where are we going to meet her?" I asked, "crown hospital, you know the one down south" I nodded and drove off. "wait shouldn't we go to the florist first?" Cacey said. "Oh yea we should." I said keeping my eyes on the road.

"Nearest one is, here take the left Tats" Caitlin says looking down at her phone for direction. We all hop out of the car and made our way to the florist. 

"OOh this one looks cute" Abril says pulling out a bunch of balloons, "we should get her these flowers they look amazing" Cacey says pulling out a bunch of different flowers over at the flower section, "and don't forget the bear!!" Caitlin says holding up a life size bear, like it was so big we couldn't even see her, we giggled, "where the hell did you" I stuttered, "I got the receptionist to get it from the storage" she laughs putting it down.

"that's $96" she smiled, I hand over the stuff in cash and we walk out, with the lifetime sized bear. "bro I can't believe we bought that bear." I smiled, "yeah I know right she's gonna freak" Cacey laughed, "thanks to me of course" Caitlin smiled. We hopped into the car and stuffed the bear in the back with Cacey and Abril. I felt sorry for them, because I swear they couldn't breathe.

After a lot of singing and complaining we parked in the parking lot of the hospital, funnily enough we were still in our uniform. Abril walked in and asked the receptionist, "uh Abigail Lewis", "room 28 upstairs" we smiled and walked over to the elevator because who was bothered taking the stairs. 

"Hey Abigail" I said walking in first, "oh my god what are you guys doing here?" she smiled, "oh just a little get well thing because Abril told us today" Caitlin murmured. "oh right" Abigail replied. "so how long has this been?" Cacey asked going over to the table beside her placing the flowers. "2 months" she said, "and you didn't tell us?" I asked, there was a really long pause of silence, "well you were going through a lot of things so I didn't want to stress you out more." she said, "we got you a life size bear!" Caitlin laughed. "you did not" she giggled, "oh yes we did" Cacey laughed, we passed to her the actually humongous bear and she giggled while stroking it.

My phone starts buzzing, "mason", "hey uh where are you?" he asked, "why do you want to know," I asked, "I don't know if you can hear the background noise but there's a lot of smashing and yelling right now." everyone in the room looked at me, I pressed the speaker button, "aren't you at the arcade though?" I said. "actually its Gage do you know where Abigail is?" he says raising his voice, I looked at the girls and then Abigail asking them with my eyes if I had permission to tell him. She nodds "Uh mason, what happened to Gage?" I asked calmly, "he's going flipping mad without Abigail, I've never seen him like this! I have no idea- Gage calm down mate, just please tell me where Abigail is" Mason urged, the background noise was loud and we were all getting worried, "Mason Abigail's at the hospital" I revealed, "WHAT WHY?" he yelled, "she's diagnosed with-", "cancer?" he stuttered, "yeah. "Gage we're going now" he said, "see you love" he said before hanging up on me. 

"Abigail, why didn't you tell him" I said looking at her, her tears started clogging up and fell, "no don't cry" Abril says coming up to her giving her a big hug. "guys Gage just texted, he's asking whats the address" Cacey says holding her phone, "why didn't Mason just text you?" Caitlin said, "boys" Abril murmured, "I couldn't agree more." Cacey said typing on her phone. "Abigail" Caitlin repeats, "why didn't you tell him?", "we weren't dating, so what was the point, plus I saw him shopping with Hannah," she mumbled, "Hannah?" I said, "yea that bitch, like who else." Abril growled.
