I heard a heavy knock at the door.
"Come in." I shouted.
I half expected to see Harry pop his head into my bedroom, but it was just Dad.
He was wearing a dark blue Ralph Lauren long sleeve, salmon khakis, those rounded tortoise glasses, and a single and adorable curl of blonde hair that fell onto his tan forehead. My dad dressed like a preppy frat boy, it was kind of adorable.
"Good morning dad." I looked back into my bedroom mirror and continued to do my makeup.
"Gosh, it's so weird to come into your room and actually see you. It doesn't feel real." Dad rested his hand on my doorknob.
I glanced over at him and smiled. "I'm happy to be here."
"Your mother and brother are ready to go to breakfast."
"Yeah, I'll be down in a second." I paused. "Hey, Dad, can I ask you something?"
"Shoot."
"Why do you want to spend the day with Harry?" I glanced over at him with a puzzled look. "You guys could just come to breakfast with us."
"Ah." Dad rubbed the nape of his neck. "I just wanted to talk to the kid privately, go to our own breakfast."
"And talk about what?" I finished up my makeup, carefully placing my cosmetics back into my makeup bag.
"That is confidential." Dad teased, flashing me a giddy smile.
I grabbed my purse and walked towards my door, ducking under Dad's arm and slipping into the hallway. I peered into Harry's room as I walked by to find it empty, causing me to dash through the hall and jump down the steps, Dad trailing lazily behind me.
I flooded into the living room to find Harry on the loveseat while Mom and Alec were on the couch, talking politely. Harry was wearing black skinny jeans, a deep red shirt with only two buttons (which were unsurprisingly both left unbuttoned), and brown leather boots. I noticed his silky hair was pulled back into a bun, surprising myself by how much I loved it.
"Hello." I sat next to Harry on the loveseat.
"You look cute." Harry whispered to me, his voice low enough so only I could hear.
I was wearing a black and white striped shift dress, my white converse, and my black sunglasses were resting on top of my head. I usually never wore casual dresses, but I wanted to impress my family.
"Thanks." I so badly wanted to kiss him, but not in front of my family, especially in front of Mom and Alec.
"Addison, are you ready?" Mom asked. "Alec?"
"Yeah." I stood up from the loveseat and Mom and Alec began to walk towards the front door.
"Harry." Dad finally appeared in the living room, leaning against the archway. "Let's get going to our breakfast, shall we?"
"Definitely." Harry stood up beside me, pressing his hand against the small of my back.
"Harry, I'll meet you in the driveway. Addison, your mother's waiting." Dad warned before walking outside with Mom and Alec, leaving the front door wide open.
