i got in!!
That's excellent, I knew you could do it! Philadelphia will be lucky to have you, Addison! Make sure to send in your deposit and contract by Monday and you'll officially be apart of the New York Times six month internship. I'll see you in class. -Jacob
I let out a happy chirp, turning to Aria. "I just have to send in my deposit and contract by Monday and I'm officially in!"
We were on our way to our celebration dinner at Sugar Fish, Aria's treat. Mason was going to meet us there.
"I'm so, so proud of you, Ad!" Aria said, stopping at a red light. "You've been working your ass off for this. I mean, once you're done with this internship, you're practically going to have a job with your name on it at the New York Times. The New York Times. How exciting is that?"
"Incredibly, incredibly, exciting." I agreed happily. "Really rewarding, you know?"
"I'm gonna miss you." Aria pouted her bottom lip at me.
"You won't miss me." I wiggled my eyebrows and she laughed.
"Do you think you'll stay there after your internship?"
I shrugged. "I dunno, maybe. If they offer me a job and I like it, sure."
"Ah! Philly!" She exclaimed, her dark brown eyes lighting up. "Amazing!"
"Yeah." I chuckled.
"I guess we'll be turning into East Coast girls for a while, huh?"
"I guess so." I reached over and felt her incredibly soft, shoulder length hair.
"What does Styles think?"
"Styles does not know."
Aria gave me a look. "Excuse me?"
"None of them know." I said sheepishly, removing my hand from her dark hair. "Besides Niall."
'"Fuck."
"I fucking know."
Aria raised an eyebrow, whistling. "So, that's why you didn't want me to invite the boys to our dinner? Because they don't know?" She asked skeptically and I shook my head. "Why don't they know? Why doesn't your boyfriend know about this?"
"Because my boyfriend didn't want me to even apply since it's too far. And my boyfriend's friends don't know because they'll just tell my boyfriend. It's all just a vicious cycle."
Aria was silent for a moment, drumming her dainty fingers against the wheel. "Harry's gotta know soon. I mean, you're in the program, it's official."
"I know." I rubbed my temple. "I just don't know how to tell him."
"Maybe he could move with you. Wouldn't that be fun?" She offered like I hadn't already considered that option.
"He can't move now, with his career and fame taking off. He needs to stay with the band, especially if they go on tour." I sighed. "There's no way he can stay in Philly."
"Long distance?"
"I'm sure he would try it, but it would only make us both miserable." I scrunched my nose. "I don't know. I mean, we can't break up. We can't."
Even the thought of breaking up with Harry made my heart stop. I can't lose somebody so important in my life. But I can't lose this internship. I couldn't bring myself to chose which future I was willing to compromise.
"That sucks, Ad."
"I know." I sighed, looking out the window.. "Fuck. He's going to freak when I tell him. Fuck fuck fuck fuck-"
