Chapter 12 Recap:
Mr. Smith, one of Cass' patients, died. She had a breakdown. Alex found her. It's the first time they really had time to talk about their relationship. He begged her to take him back. But… it wouldn't be that easy. He took her home and ended up staying at her new apartment after she begged her to not leave like he did the night of their break up. They end up sleeping (only sleeping) together.

I'm woken up by the bright rays seeping through the shutters. This has been my wake-up for the past few days. But today the blinding morning light doesn't annoy me. In fact, I feel refreshed and ready for the brand new day.
I'm aware of the beauty lying comfortably on my chest. I miss waking up this way--Cass curled up beside me. Definitely the best way to wake up in the morning. This seems such a luxury after the crappy weeks without her. Hmm, it really makes you appreciate the things you've lost.
I ran my hands through her hair gently, careful not to wake her up. If the barely there dark circle under her eyes is an indication, Cass have been having trouble sleeping lately. I wonder if it's because of Mr. Smith or me, or both.
This is my second chance. I need to show her that I'm still the Alex who realised he had fallen in love after she broke up with him, who cowardly said 'I love you' through an iPod, who would eat foreign delicacies even if that meant puking the next morning, and just especially the only man that would ever be for her. I'm still quite optimistic that I could make Cassandra trust me again.
I want to do something special for her today. You know brighten her day even a little. And I know exactly how to start.
Just as I stood up from my comfortable position from the bed, I heard a knock from the door. Who the hell visits Cass… I looked at the bedside clock… at 6:30 in the morning? I hurried to the doors. If the knocking continues, Cass may have an early wake up.
If I tell you I wouldn't have for a million years guess who was at the door I'd be lying to you. I bet you know who it is too. If you guessed that damn Peter Cummings, then bonus points for you! This murse just pops out everywhere where Cass is.
"What are you doing here?" The murse and I asked in unison. We glared at each other. If this is a glaring contest, I'm not backing out! So this murse better give up first or we'll be doing this all day.
The murse rolled his eyes at me and finally broke the glaring contest. Ha-ha, I won! I smile smugly at him.
"What are you doing in Cassie's apartment?" He asked.
"None of your business." I ignored his question. "What are you doing here?" I fired back.
"None of your business too." I balled my palms into a fist. Must-not-hit-the-murse. Must-try-to-be-civil.
"Well then, if that's the case", I trailed off, moving to close the door in the process.
"Dude… wait!" He moved to push the door so that it opened widely again. I can see his face contort into annoyance and restraint. Ha-ha. I win again. "Where's Cassie?"
"Sleeping." I answered simply.
"I came to tell her that she's excused from going to work today. You know after what happened with Mr. Smith yesterday. The Chief gave her the week off."
"Cool. I'll be sure to tell her that." I replied civilly. Obviously this murse cares for her a lot. It kinda pisses me off but at the same time I'm quite thankful that someone cares for her in the hospital.
