“Is this necessary?”

“Yes!” She said, annoyed. “Quit touching it.”

I slumped on my seat. “You know every minute with you, is minutes of manliness I lose.” She laughed.

“Because I put a blindfold over your eyes?” I nodded. “I’m terribly sorry. I didn’t know blindfolds are a girl thing”, she said sarcastically.

“It’s not just that”, I retorted.

“Please enlighten me”, she said sweetly.

“I could mention a lot of examples for what you have subjected me this morning. Again, the blindfold.” I pointed at the freaking thing covering my eyes. "And then letting you drive.”

“I’ve never noticed it before but this is the first time that I drove you. Hmmmm. Interesting.”

I ignored her. “And then this whole surprise thing. I won’t be surprised if I turn into a girl by the end of this day.”

I can hear her laughing at my expense. I felt my cheek being pinched and I can’t help but let out a grunt, if I must say, a manly grunt at that.

“Hey! No complaining remember?” She lectured. “This is my day. I can do everything that I want even when I want to do the girliest things possible.”

I huffed. I wished I didn’t because I felt like a 8 year old refused by his mom candy. “How much longer till we get there?”

“Not much longer, grumpy pants.”

I was determined to stay grumpy for the rest of the ride. But staying grumpy is so hard when I’m with the most adorable girl.

I’m sure you would have guessed by now that for most of the ride, Cass was blasting Taylor Swift in the radio. Yes, most of the time, because she was kind enough to sneak it a bit of Coldplay to the mix.

Like I said, I was out of my grumpy mood immediately. I swear if you hear Cass and her effort of reaching those song notes, you would laugh your ass out. I could just see her impersonating how Taylor Swift dances through my blindfold. And we all know T Swift can’t dance.

Hearing my laughter, she huffed. “I know I have no talent for anything.”

“That’s not true, baby. You can bake and cook. That’s just one of the few talents you have.”

“That’s not a talent. That’s just a simple skill which I am not very good at too.”

“Well I beg to differ because you make the best brownies that I have ever tasted.” I miss her brownies. "I guess it just depends on perspective. Don’t be too harsh on yourself.”

“Well you laughing while I sing is very inconsiderate of my feelings.” I can tell that she was not serious. Is it crazy that I can feel her smiling?

“I’m only laughing because I like your singing. It’s just one of the adorable things that you do.”

She huffed again. “I’m not even gonna ask what those others things are. I bet I hate them too.” And then after a minute, she sang again.

You know what I realised something. You’ll know that you complement someone if the things that she hates are the things that you’ll love about her. She will need someone who could show her that there will be someone in her life that would love the things that she hates so maybe someday she’ll grow to accept them too. That goes both ways. You should choose someone for yourself that will love you and make you love the things you hate.

That was pretty deep. See, Cassandra Wilkins, we’re meant for each other.

“Hey Alex, how many fingers am I holding up?” She asked, pausing from her singing.
