"Knock, knock." I muttered as I truly knocked on her door. It was only after noon and I brought lunch for the girl standing on the other side of the door. I would have come earlier but I think it would be creepy and overexcited to visit her at 8 in the morning.
"Alex", she greeted passively, not all surprised that it would be knocking on her door.
"You're suppose to ask 'Who's there?'. I corrected.
"But I already know it's you." I narrowed my eyes at here and she sighed, resigned.
"Who's there?"
"Orange."
"Orange who?"
"Orange you going to let me in?" She grinned at me.
"Heard that one already", she informed me as she opened the door further.
"Hmmm really?" I asked comically, placing my fist under my chin. She nodded her head with fake enthusiasm.
"Bet you haven't heard this one. Knock, knock."
"Who's there?" She supplied.
"Claire."
"Claire, who?
"Claire the way, I'm coming through", then I playfully shoved her out of the way, taking a hold of her waist. Since the contact is more of what boyfriends and girlfriends do and as she always reminds me that we're not, I quickly loosened my grip and settled for a swift kiss on her forehead, before completely letting go of her.
"Why are you in such a happy mood?" She asked, chuckling at me.
"I would say but that would be telling," I answered back cryptically. Cass looked at me bemused, having no idea what I meant. Ditto. I don't know what I meant by that too. I'm just happy. I woke up this morning feeling as if there's a million reasons to be happy today.
"I brought lunch", I said grinning down on her. "And I know you would be over the moon with my choice."
"Oh baby, you are a lot of surprises today, aren't you?" She asked rhetorically in that fake british accent of hers.
"You could use pet names, but I can't, babe?" I said emphasising the babe at the end.
"That was a line from a movie. It doesn't count." She explained, poking her tongue out at me as I chuckled.
"Here goes another one. Knock, knock." I said as she led me to the living room.
"Who's there?"
"Alex." She raised her brow at me.
"Alex who?"
"Alex Turner. Who else?" She laughed. "Let's eat. Alex-plain the joke later." I laughed too.
"Double whammy," she complimented in between laughter. "I like that one."
"So what's in those bags?"
"Belgian food." She chuckled.
"You mean there really was one?"
"Well no…" I said scratching the back of my neck. "Not in the city anyway. And it's not newly opened. Yeah…." I stopped shaking my head. "Thought you still wanted to eat Belgian so I got you some." I finished my awkward speech and plopped down next to her on the couch.
"That's sweet. Thank you," she supplied, smiling down her fingers.
"Knock, knock."
"Not again," she said groaning. Who's there?"
