"Away"

I can feel his breath as he sleeps next to me.

Pauwi pa lang kami galing sa party. Nauna pa nga akong tumungo sa parking area dahil iyon ang gusto niya. Ayoko pa sana noong una pero nakita ko 'yung pagod sa mga mata niya.

We were silent the whole ride home but he never let go of my hand. He put it on his beating heart. It stayed there.

Yes, he went home with me. Well, I was the one who insisted the idea. Okay, no. Wala akong balak na masama sa kanya, ano! I just saw how sleep deprived he is and that I need to be certain that he gets enough sleep tonight. Paano niya magagawa 'yon kung ano! Ano... kung kakausapin ko siya magdamag!

I touched his soft hair and my hand travelled to his thick lashes, his pointed nose and the scar he got from some sort if sickness years ago.

I smiled. The overwhelming feeling of love is building up inside me. The man I wanna spend my whole life with is sleeping next to me. He looks so peaceful, malayo sa Alden na laging nakakunot ang noo noon. Far from the Rj I was with earlier- troubled.

"Happy new year." I greeted him even when I know he cannot hear me.

"Sana kung ano man 'yang bumabagabag sa'yo, mawala na. I wanna see your dimples often." I don't wanna see you suffer.

"Kung ano man 'yan, I promise I will do everything to help you, or to at least lessen the burden."

Kaya ko namang sabihin sa kanya ang lahat ng 'to, but it feels good knowing he won't oppose everything that I am about to say right now, because he is asleep.

"Kung may kinalaman 'yan sa trabaho, pwede namang sabay nating sulosyunan, 'di ba?"

"Kung may kinalaman sa family mo, you can confide in me. I am your best friend, Rj."

I played with his hair and planted kisses on his cheeks. Parang kahapon lang ay hindi ko magawang hawakan kahit ang mga kamay niya man lang.

"Kung may kinalaman 'to.... sa akin, please tell me." At kung mayroon man, anong gagawin mo, Maine?

"You will never be a burden to me, Menggay." He half opened his eyes and I almost pushed him because my face is only half inch away from his!

"K-kanina mo pa naririnig lahat ng sinasabi ko?" He nodded.

"Ano?!" Nakakahiya! Oo, kaya kong sabihin ang lahat ng ito sa harapan niya at hindi naman ito ang ikinahihiya ko ngayon kundi 'yung mga halik na ginawa ko kanina!

Tatayo na sana ako dahil ramdam ko na ang lahat ng dugo ko na napunta sa mukha ko ng hilain niya ako pahiga.

"Stay here. Mas mahimbing akong makakatulog kapag katabi kita."

He put his hand on my waist and I can feel him tickling me. His other hand is gently carressing my face.

"Or maybe not." Maybe not? Bakit? Mabaho ba hininga ko kaya hindi siya makakatulog ng mahimbing?

I was about to say something when he pulled me in to a kiss. And this is a different kiss. It has a fire within every move our lips make, our teeth even touching.

This kiss is the kind that takes your breath away. Literally.

His hand that was on my face earlier is slowly moving to my stomach. Nope, it is now exploring me: On my stomach, in between my breasts and under. I deepened the kiss. His lips leaving mine for a moment to taste my neck. God, I can't take it no longer. I want him to touch me.

Then he stopped.

"I," he started, running for his breath, "I want to do this when you're ready."

Natulala ako. Ready na ako, at nahihiya ako sa kanya dahil baka siya ang hindi. Na baka siya ang may ayaw.

"What was it? Was it my lipstick? Ayaw mo bang malasahan? Or, maasim ba 'yung leeg ko?" Nagpa-panic na ako, I can't even look him in the eyes.

"What?! No. Hey, no. That's not it." He pulled me closer and he kissed me on my forehead.
"Eh... ano?" Hindi ko alam kung gusto ko talagang malaman. Baka mapahiya lang ako.

"You were trembling, Maine. Alam kong hindi ka pa handa, alam kong takot ka."

I sighed and it took me a moment to realize that I let out a shaky breath. That Alden was right. Na alam niya kasing gagawin ko 'yon dahil gusto niya, kahit hindi pa ako handa.

"I want our first... to be special. The one we will remember for the rest of our lives. The one we cannot compare to other nights we will spend together."

He is playing with my hair now and I remember that I was doing it to him earlier. I suddenly feel sleepy and I have the hobby of carressing my pillow when I am sinking into subconsciousness... and I thought Alden was my pillow.

"Stop tickling my tummy, Maine. You're...
God. You're making this more... difficult."

I stopped. Pati na rin ang antok ko ay biglang nawala sa sinabi niya. Omg, did I... Oh.

"Sorry..."

"Just talk. Don't sleep yet. Matagal pa ako bago makakatulog nito." He chuckles.

Ano ba! Mas lalo tuloy akong nahihiya! Itinago ko ang mukha ko sa dibdib niya pero naalala ko ang sinabi niya. Ano ba, Maine! Hindi unan si Alden.

He tickles my ear. Hindi ako sigurado kung alam niya bang ito ang nagpapaantok sa akin pero hinayaan ko lang siya.

I yawned. "Why.. where are you earlier?"

He stopped. I felt him let out a long breath. Did I cross the line?

I was about to say sorry when he continued playing with my ear.

"Mr. Lim talked to me." He voice when from gentle to firm... or scared.

"Oh, about what? He asked me for a dance, too." I closed my eyes, relieving the dance.

He stopped again. Why do I feel like this conversation is giving him a hard time?

Tumikhim siya. "May.. did he tell you anything?"

"Yes. Sabi niya maganda daw ang kita ng movie. 'Yon ba ang pinag-usapan niyo?"

Naramdaman ko siyang bumuntong hininga. "Oo, yun din."

Gusto ko sanang sabihin sa kanya ang hindi magandang pakiramdam ko kanina habang tinatanong ako ni Mr. Lim tungkol sa amin pero hindi na lang. Baka makadagdag lang ito sa iniisip niya.

"Let's go away."

Other people will overreact when they hear something like this but I know what Alden wants. Hindi naman siya 'yung tipo ng lalaki na bigla bigla na lang gustong mag-tanan!

"Hm.. When?" Inaantok na talaga ako.

"Tomorrow."

Bukas? Wala naman kaming trabaho dahil taped ang mga episode ng Eat Bulaga.. at nandito na naman kami. Pwede akong mag-empake bukas.

"Okay."

"Okay?"

"Hmm."
