All's well that ends well

It was a dark and stormy night, and the doctor still hasn't brought the results. The wind howled as rain battered the windows in the dead of the night. The cracking sound of the thunder was everywhere and from the dark clouds, lightning struck here and there, lighting up the sky for a second before vanishing. It was almost as if the weather was grieving at the loss of a precious thing. It was almost midnight, but Kai was still awake, staring at the wall and fidgeting with his hands, thinking about the love of his life - Cinder.

They were such sweet memories they had shared together, and Kai wished from the bottom of his heart that he could bring them back. After Levana had stabbed cinder in her stomach, the policemen stopped her right in time before she killed her. Nevertheless, the doctor announced that cinder's position was very critical, and they would try their level best to save her. Kai had been heartbroken and wouldn't listen to anyone - wouldn't eat, won't sleep, and didn't do anything but stare blankly at the wall. It's almost five hours since they had brought cinder to the hospital, and still they couldn't tell anything for sure.

All the others - scarlet, wolf, cress, Thorne, jacin and winter tried comforting him, but of no avail. He was like a statue, a broken angel. The rain and thunder continued slashing, making the whole area completely dark and foreboding. But Kai didn't care about anything, he just wanted Cinder to be safe.

"Poor Kai. He's still sitting there, staring." "I know. I saw him pacing on the balcony, and staring at the sky." "He really loves cinder, doesn't he?" "Yeah, he does. I just hope cinder comes out of this, unscathed." Thorne started. "Should I bring Kai here, with us? At least he won't be alone." "I've already tried that. He's not acknowledging me." Scarlet said. "Maybe, he'll listen to me?" Cress shrugged. "You can try." "I'm going now." He stood up and went towards the hallway.

"What is it you want, Thorne?" Kai asked grumbling. "Whoa, calm down bro. Nothing is going to happen to cinder." He assured. "How do you know that?! What if she..she couldn't come out.. A..alive? How.. What will I do? I can't... Go...." With that, he broke down. His head aching, he knocked over the nightstand with unnecessary force onto the ground. He wept, the salty tears soaking his hand completely. Hot torrents of grief coursing out his eyes like the breaking of a dam, mingling with the uncomfortable softness of the pillow he was holding in his hands. His racking sobs shaking him thoroughly with the knowledge that he was the cause that cinder was stabbed - that nothing would be the same again. Gasping for air, he turned his head and sobbed some more.

"Kai. Now look at me, please." The gentleness of the voice surprised him and at once he looked up. It was Torin. Kai smiled weakly, and stood up shakily. "Kai, I've never seen you this upset all my life. But please, try not to worry so much. It hurts me to see you in this state." "How could I be not? It's Cinder for Christ's sake. I love her so Much." "I know, and I know this too, So I'm telling you this , Cinder is a fighter, and I'm hundred percent sure she'll come out alive and healthy." "I hope so." Kai muttered. A peaceful silence settled into the atmosphere, and Kai felt a little better after Torrin's declaration. "Thank you for that little speech, Torin. I feel a lot better." Torrin smiled at his response.

"That was the main aim, sire." "What happened to Levana? Where is she now?" That question immediately put on a frown on his face. "We've imprisoned her for a attempted murder and the annexation of Selene's rightful throne. Hopefully, after she recovers, we'll charge Levana with treason for her acts."

Kai sighed in relief at his words. "That's good." Both of them sank in comfortable silence, as kai began drop of to sleep slowly. Within 10 minutes, kai was asleep. Torin stared at Kai's peaceful sleeping figure. "Poor thing. He deserves some rest after after all these commotion. I'll go out now." He slowly opened the door and exited the room. "How's Kai?" "What's he doing?" "Is he alright?" "Wha-" "Stop with the questions!" Torin screamed. The whole room went silent, waiting. Torin cleared his throat. "Sorry for shouting at you, but you didn't give me any chance to speak. Kai's fine now, and he's sleeping in there right now. I suggest you all clear off for now, and wait outside." He said, and marched outside. "C'mon guys, let's go back. Kai will be alright." Scarlet started. "What if something happens to cinder?" Cress asked. "Let's have someone to tell him." "I'll do that." Thorne suggested quietly. "Good."

I stared lovingly at her, at her wide eyes and surprised posture. "K..Kai, what's this? What are you doing?" I can see the tears glistening In her eyes. "Cinder, I love you so much, so much that it cannot be expressed in any way. I would like to express my love in this way - Selene channary jannali Blackburn, will you make me the happiest man alive by marrying me?" At this point, her lips were trembling and her hands flew to her mouth. "Kai, I love you more than you love me, and yes, I will happily-"

I was waked up from the beautiful dream by a pair of hands. "Kai! Wake up for Christ's sake!" I grunted and sat up straight. "What the hell do you want Thorne? Can't I marry Cinder even in my dreams? Why are you guys always dis-"
Whoops.
I just practically told him that I want to marry Cinder. Thanks a lot mouth. Thorne looked shocked for a minute, but regained his posture at once when he realised what I had said.

His infamous smirk made a grand appearance, and I mentally prepared myself for a teasing session. "Awww, Wittle Kai had a dream about him and his big cwush getting married!!" I groaned. "Not now, Thorne. Not now." "Then accept the fact that you love cinder." He said, staring straight into my eyes. I stared straight back. "Of course, I do. I love her so much. If that wasn't the case, I wouldn't have even tried to rescue her in the first place." Thorne's eyes softened a little. "You guys will make a cute couple!!!! I can see Kaider babies running already!" I groaned again. "Unfortunately, you are turning into Iko. I can see that." That stopped him. "So, do you have any idea on why I woke you up?"

I quizzed myself. Yeah, why? Then realisation hit me. Cinder. He seemed to have noticed my widened eyes, and he nodded his head. "Yes, its about her." My face went pale. What happened to her? "Thorne? What happened to her? Is she alright?" Thorne's face went from funny to grave. "Well, about that..."

The door opened and in came scarlet and the rest. "Thorne, why didn't you take kai and come down? Didn't I tell you?" "Guys! Will someone tell my what happened to Cinder?" I shouted. By now, Tears were glistening in his eyes. "I'm so sorry bro." My breath hitched. What? "W..what did you say?" The others gaped on surprised. "I'm really sorry. She didn't make it." They were the last words I heard before the world plunged into darkness.

AFTER FIVE HOURS:

Beep. Beep. Beep.
Those were the sounds I first heard after I had that horrible nightmare. Cinder dying. I blacking out. I shuddered. Even thinking about that makes me want to puke. But, what am I doing in a hospital bed? I slowly tried to get up, but those nasty wires sticking out of my hand made it impossible to do so. Then suddenly I heard muffled voices across the room. "Its kai! He's awake!!" It was wolf. They came running across the room, panting. "Thank god kai. You nearly gave us a nightmare. Thank god your safe." "Speaking about nightmares, I saw a horrible dream of cinder dying. Horrible, right?" I saw the guilty faced of the others. "What?" "Kai... it wasn't a nightmare. I told you that cinder was dead."

My world came crashing down. Cinder is dead? No.. it can't be...
"So she is dead? That's it?" "Actually, I have something else to tell you. This dickhead here, con-" "STOP RIGHT THERE!" Thorne shouted. Scarlet looked pissed enough. "What?" "Well, that secret is for the next chapter, right? You can't tell it now." She grumbled. "Fine. If you readers want to know the rest, please continue reading. Thanks."

Soooooo, I know. I'm a terrible writer. I barely update once a month. And I deserve those rocks your going to throw at me.
