Chapter 9:
I can't believe Kalyn is my brother's mate, "Then we're done," Kalyn rasped, "What?" Jace asks in a quiet, disbelieving tone. "I said, we're done." She repeated herself. "N-no, Kalyn, please. I'm only trying to protect you, don't leave me." I heard footsteps, "It's too late," I bolt out of the way, running so that I'm completely silent. I hear the door open and I walk down the stairs, as if I didn't hear a word they said.
I walk into the kitchen and find Tyler sitting down on the bar stool. I sit in front of him and he looks up in surprise, "Jezebelle, I didn't hear you come in." I smirked, "I'm just that ninja," He chuckles lightly. He suddenly goes rigid, his eyes turning pitch black and anger filling them. My brow furrows, "Tyler?" He looks up at me and growled, "Your mate's patrol has been attacked and they are greatly outnumbered." He shot up out of the stool, me following him. I hear heavy footsteps and three males come in, one black man with gray eyes, one dirty blonde with hazel eyes, and one with black hair and blue eyes. I didn't recognize any of them. Some Luna.
"I want Eli to come with me and Lucas and Jeremy to go with the Luna. Protect her with your lives. You know what would happen if she gets hurt under your supervision." The black guy and dirty blonde nod and stand beside me. I sighed, "Okay, first off, which one is which?" The black guy spoke up first, "I'm Lucas and that's Jeremy, Tyler's younger brother." I nod then panic overflows me, 'Tyler, what am I going to do without revealing myself?' I ask and he shifts, his clothes in shreds on the ground. He faces me, 'They're going to find out eventually, right? That's what this whole war is about anyways.' I was hesitant, but nodded.
I went behind a tree and stripped down, shifting into my pure white wolf. Man, it felt good to be in wolf form again. A large auburn and tawny wolf come out of the bushes and they both stare at me in shock. I snap my jaws and growl, which makes them snap out of it. I jerk my head, looking at Lucas and he nods, running in the opposite direction of Tyler and Eli. I follow close behind and Jeremy's auburn wolf follows me, hanging back a little.
'Move your asses! We're already at the fighting grounds!' I hear Tyler yell at us and Lucas picks up the pace just a little bit. I growl in annoyance and push ahead easily, barking at them to follow. They obey without question and I run faster than both of them. Soon I hear vicious growls and snarls. I burst into a small clearing and I see that Xavier's pitch black wolf is being attacked by three, large wolves. I growl and ram into the side of an average sized, red wolf, sending it flying in the other direction. I run at it and lunge, but huge gray wolf barrels into me, throwing me away from the red wolf.
The wolf growls viciously and lunges at me, but Xavier attacks from the side, sinking his razor-sharp, pearl white teeth into the wolf's neck. I get up and jump onto the red wolf, grabbing it's neck and ripping at the soft flesh. I hold on until the wolf stops moving and struggling. I unclamp my jaws and look around. Tyler and Brent are being attacked and I make a move to help, but Xavier steps in front of me. I look up at him and growl, 'Xavier-'
'They're fine, Jez. They don't need help.' He says calmly and I look into his forest green eyes, getting lost in them. It seems like everything stops and it's only me and Xavier. He whines softly and licks my muzzle. I sit down and he sits down next to me. I still just barely reach his shoulder, which makes me eye level with his wide chest. I feel small and helpless around him-well, around just about any guy in this pack cause I'm short. Brent finishes off the wolf he was fighting and looks up at me and Xavier, amusement glittering in his eyes, 'So, when are you guys gunna-'
'Don't even finish that sentence.' I growl and he chuckles. I look at Xavier's large, pitch black wolf and I notice that he sits regally-like an Alpha. He looks down at me and he searches my face for something. He stands and shifts, leaving him stark naked right in front of me. He's got a smug look on his face when he notices me looking at his eight pack and struggling not to look any further, but that v-line is just so irresistible. I quickly look away and he chuckles deeply, "You gunna shift?" He asks and I growl lowly.
