Chapter 20:
Just like he promised, Xavier was right next to me when I woke. That was probably the best night of sleep I've had in a long time. I felt refreshed. I decided it was time for Xavier to wake up, too, and pressed my backside against his member. He hissed through his teeth and tightened his grip on me. "Good morning," I said innocently and he chuckled sleepily. "What a good morning it is," he replied, burying his face in the crook of my neck.
It was silent for a moment. Xavier sighed and mumbled some kind of foreign language under his breath. I look up at him, confused. "What?" I asked. He locked eyes with me. "Brent just linked me and said that I'm due for patrol with him, Tyler, Klayton, and Kalyn." The mention of my brothers mate made me remember how she rejected him. I needed to talk to Kalyn.
"I'm going to come with you." I said, going to get up. Xavier held onto me tightly. "You're going to stay here and rest." He growled in my ear, making me shiver. I smirked, frosting over his hand. He instantly let go and I jumped up. "Come on, we've gotta get dressed." I said, grabbing clothes out of the closet. He came up behind me and smacked my ass as I walked to the bathroom to take a shower. "You're stubborn." He remarked and I smiled brightly at him. "But you love me anyways." He chuckled, nodding his head.
I hopped into the shower and hummed to a song I was listening to a while ago. I didn't even hear the door open. Xavier hopped into the shower from behind me, stark naked. I froze and he wrapped his strong arms around me from behind. "You didn't even invite me." He said teasingly into my ear, taking my ear lobe between his teeth.
I leaned back against him, relaxing in his arms. He ran his hands up and down my stomach, teasing me. He turned me around and pinned me against the wall. He captured my mouth with his and his lips moved against mine gently, but demanding. I buried my fingers in his soft hair. He pulled away and started to wash me.
After we took a shower, we got dressed. I brushed my hair and put it in a messy bun. Xavier wrapped his arms around my waist from behind and inhaled my scent. He scooped me up and carried me out of the room. We got to the kitchen and everybody was there, except for Kalyn. "Xavier, do you really think Kalyn is going to leave her room? She rarely does," Brent mumbled and Xavier was about to speak, but I cut in. "Let me talk to her. I'm sure I can convince her to come on the patrol." I said and Xavier looked at me for a moment before nodding. He put me down and I walked up to Kalyn's room.
I knocked on the door and I heard her murmur a "come in". I slipped in and closed the door behind me. She was sitting in a bean bag chair with a book in hand. "Aren't you coming on patrol?" I asked. She put the book down and I saw the cloudy look in her dark brown eyes. "No," she said. I knelt down in front of her. "What's been going on? You seem...down." I stated and she brought her knees up to her chest. She shrugged. "How would you feel if Xavier died before you could even have a chance with him?" I knew instantly that I had to tell her. No, I had to show her that Jace was still alive.
I grabbed her hands. "I know you rejected him. I know you're hurting. Why did you reject him?" I asked her softly. She locked eyes with me, pain dulled her eyes. "He wouldn't tell me anything. He argued whenever I asked him about what he kept so secret." She said and I knew I had to tell her about our powers. "Jace, Klayton, and I are all white wolves. Each of us possess the power of ice. Jace didn't want to scare you away, that's why he didn't tell you." Her eyes had widened. She blinked and I pulled my hands away. I made an ice dagger and she gasped, looking at it in awe. "I-I thought...the war...how?" She stammered, running her fingers over the dagger.
"Our parents sent us away before the war. Nobody knew about us. We used to be rogues. We ran from the Council because they wanted us dead." I said and she looked up at the doorway. Her face paled and she looked like she's seen a ghost. I looked at the doorway and saw Jace leaning against the door jam. Pain burned in his silver eyes and he looked down shamefully. "I'm sorry I -"
