Chapter 15:

I had to reject him, but I needed to run. I was running blindly, not knowing where I was going. I saw that the trees were thinning and a road was in front of me. I ran straight into the middle of it, cars stepping on their brakes. I looked around, fear pouring into my body. I looked at their expressions and it was of pure terror. I started seeing doubles and shifted uncontrollably. People started getting out of their cars and I put my shaking hands up. "Stay away," I said loudly, strongly.

One guy looked at me in confusion and fear. "What the fuck are you?!" He shouted and everybody started walking towards me. I felt my whole body grow colder the closer everybody got. "Stay away!" I yelled and a burst of black ice shot out of my hand at innocent, scared people. I made an ice dress and looked at the people on the ground, trembling in fear. I looked around again, my body turning numb from being so cold. I ran straight into the woods, a trail of black ice forming behind me.

I saw Xavier and froze, my chest heaving. He looked at me in confusion. "Jezebelle, what's going on?" He asked, stepping towards me. I made the mistake of putting my hands up and shooting ice at my mate. He rolled out of the way and looked at me with worry. "Jez, calm down. Don't be scared, it'll only make it worse." I crossed my arms and clenched my fists, trying to ignore the numbness growing in my body. I felt him get closer and I closed my eyes tightly, bowing my head. "I, Jezebelle Rosehart, reject you, Xavier Conhart, as my mate." I felt intense pain in my heart as I said these words. Xavier froze and I could feel the pain and agony coming off of him in waves.

"Jezebelle, why -" I could feel his hand on my shoulder and I ripped away from him, running into the woods. I opened my tear-filled eyes and sobbed, hugging my stomach as I ran. I was so scared and hurt. I stopped to catch my breath, putting a hand on a tree. In seconds, it was encased in black ice. I backed away and bumped into somebody. A small scream left my mouth and I spun around and saw my aunt standing there.

She looked at me with worry. "Oh, honey. What is happening to you?" She said, slight menace in her voice. Why? I didn't know. She came closer. I put my hands up, shooting ice at her. She easily blocked it with an ice shield of her own. "Look at yourself, a monster you are. You're better off being a rogue, alone. I bet you're used to being alone, aren't you?" She said dangerously. My head started pounding and I clutched it in my hands. The sky was soon covered in black clouds, only swirling above where we stood.

I was dizzy and trembling. "You're a mess. You've lost everything dear to your pitiful heart." I heard a male voice that I didn't recognize. I didn't understand. I saw a tall, dark figure come out of the shadows. "Wouldn't you much rather be gone than stuck in your horrid life? You know just as much as I do that it isn't worth it, I mean, your mate doesn't even want you. You're not supposed -"

"Stop!" I shot a burst of ice at the man. He dodged it and I looked down at my trembling hands. I was capable of so much more. A growing confidence and burning fire rose within me and I looked up. I saw my aunt standing next to the man and I looked at them menacingly, letting my eyes change. I smiled evilly. "You have no idea who you're fucking around with," I said darkly, chuckling menacingly. I froze Dalia's feet to the ground and shot ice shards at the male. He dodged all of them. I threw black fireballs at him, one skimming his shoulder. He groaned and looked at the burn. I lifted my hands, creating a ten foot tall fire wall around us. Dalia got one foot out and threw an ice shard at me. I stopped it easily by putting up an ice shield.

The man laughed. "You really think you're all big and bad, don't you? Well, here's some news. You're not. You're just a screw up. Nobody wants you, hell your parents didn't even want you. They gave you away to some other family and then you were cast out to die. You should be dead!" There was a loud crack in the sky, lightening striking the ground in front of the man. The wind picked up ten-fold and it started pouring. That didn't stop the taunting. "Your brother was even worse! He was useless! Its a good thing he died 'cause he was gunna die anyways!" I growled loudly, thundering crashing in the sky.
