Chapter 6: Try-outs
The field is empty when I reached out there, and I couldn't be happier. My warm-ups are different from the guys. It consist of running for ten minutes, testing my flexibility and to free up my muscles I dance. Yeah that is my routine stretching and it works for me.
I put in my ear plugs and pulled up my arm band that holds my phone and started running. The adrenaline is starting to rise and I can feel my pace picking up at an inhumane speed. Ten minutes were up and I managed to get 20 laps in. Time for flexibility stretching.
Well for flexibility I just simply try to bend my body into different positions to make sure all my muscle are stretched. Lastly my favorite part of my routine. Dance! I just go with the flow and put my whole body into it and I look great doing it, if i do say so myself.
The song that I will be dancing to is G6 by Far-East Movement. The reason why I chose this song is because there are many different things you can do with it. I took out my beats pill speaker and my iPod setting it up to amplify the sound. I made sure to keep it on repeat so it is the only song that will play until the boys come out.
I've been dancing to this song for the past 15 minutes. The boys haven't showed yet so I will just go over the song again. I wait for the music to start before I went back in dance mode. When I dance I block the word out.
Poppin bottles in the ice, like a blizzard
when we drink we do it right gettin slizzardThe song started slow giving me time to anticipate the movements, but the song picks up quickly so I have to gradually pick up the movements. The hook is filled with popping and locking but when I start the verse I depend mostly on my hips.
Gimme that Mo-Moet-wet
Gimme that Cry-Crystal-talIt was time for me to start working my hips when I felt the present of another dancer. I was in dance mode so I really didn't care. We started dancing on each other to the beat of the music and break away when it was time to pop and lock. That's how it went on until the song was over.
I stopped to catch my breath before looking at my partner. Well to tell you the truth my partner looked hot but not my type. He looked like a male model in the making with all that muscle going on. His brown hair was messy but it worked for him and so did his eyes, they were nice color green.
"How much of my warm-ups did you guys see?" They probably think I didn't notice them watching from behind the bleachers. "Well?"
"From your flexibility stretches, and you sure are flexible." Ok that sounds too suggestive for my liking. "My name is Luke and you my friend can dance." Ok if he thinks he is getting anywhere near me he can think again.
"Thanks. I'm Athena and you're not bad yourself." Not going to keep up the convo any longer. "I am going to cut to the chase, I came to play ball. So you go fetch your team from behind the bleacher."
You should have seen his face when I told him that I knew they were hiding. Poor boy, I couldn't help but role my eyes, and point in the direction of the team. They seem skeptical about playing with me. Typical sexist egotistical jerks.
"Look if you know you're going to go easy on me. Tell me, because I don't have time to waste." Even though I was talking to the team, it was the captain I needed to get to. "Screw the fact that I'm a girl. You say you play rough." Now I had their attention. "Show me, because I can play rougher." That sounded kind of suggestive even to me. The boys made some wolf whistles, howls and I think I heard an animal growl. Something is off about this school.
"Ok boys, you heard her don't hold back." Finally Chris got the memo.
They really do play rough. Now I know why they won States 3 years in a row. Their reflex is spot on and their agility is graceful. When we started I thought I wouldn't stand a chance. But I wasn't going to give up. In the end I kicked their asses. My team won 5-3 and I scored 3 of the goals.
