I Love You (Aaron Gordon) -Leilah-

This one's for lllaur ! I accidentally deleted it after I wrote it so I had to rewrite the whole thing. That's why it took so long. Sorry it's a bit short but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless (:

-Leilah's POV-

I groaned, sitting up in bed as my phone rang. I felt around for it with my eyes still closed. I finally found it and held it to my ear.

"Hello?"I answered tiredly.

"Oh, sorry for waking you up Lei. I just wanted to see if I could come over. I'm bored as fuck,"my best friend Aaron said.

Our relationship is complicated... You see, we're really good friends. But we both want to be more. I guess we've been dating for a while but it isn't too serious. Told you it was complicated.

Aaron's an NBA player, so there's always a spotlight on him, and it's dangerous for everyone around him. Aaron doesn't want me to get caught up in the press and fall victim to all the rumours and drama involved with paparazzi and fans.

"Yeah, sure. Come over in like 20 minutes,"I replied. Aaron agreed and said bye before hanging up.

I quickly took a shower and got ready for the day before walking down the stairs.

Right then, the doorbell rang. I opened the door for Aaron and smiled. "Hey Aaron,"I said as he hugged me.

"Wassup Leilah? You look beautiful as always,"he said, making me blush.

I reached up and kissed his cheek before asking,"Care to join me for breakfast?" Aaron followed me into the kitchen while saying,"Nah, I just ate. Thanks though."

I gave him a nod before making myself a quick bowl of cereal. I sat down in front of Aaron at the table and saw him texting someone. He looked frustrated.

"What's up? You good?"I asked.

Aaron looked up at me and nodded. "Yeah, it's just my friend. He won't shut up about you and I." "What? Why?"I asked.

Aaron answered,"He told me that if I don't make our relationship official, he's going to go for you."

I rolled my eyes and said,"Tell him he can fuck off. I'm not dating anyone but you, Aaron." That definitely made him smile.

After I finished eating, Aaron and I just sat on the couch and watched TV.

I noticed that Aaron definitely likes to play with my hair. I looked up at him and gave him a big grin.

"You're so cute, Lei,"he complimented, making me blush. "Thanks Aaron,"I smiled.

After a while, I stood up. "I'm going to go play basketball out back. Care to join?"I asked.

Aaron grinned, standing up. "Sure, but you know I'm going to whip your butt, right?"

"We'll see about that, Gordon."

Aaron and I walked into my backyard where a hoop was set up. We took some practice shots to warm up.

"You know, just because you're an NBA player doesn't mean you're all that great,"I huffed after he dunked the ball. Aaron chuckled and retorted,"I'm an NBA player because I'm great." I playfully rolled my eyes.

"Ready to play now?"he asked.

I tossed him the ball. "Check me."

Aaron and I played for about an hour. We were both super competitive with each other. I wanted to beat Aaron and he wanted to beat me. He obviously had an upper hand, but I stayed pretty close to him.

After I was absolutely exhausted, I dramatically fell on the ground. "I give up. You win,"I sighed, just laying there.

Aaron chuckled and laid down next to me on the concrete. "You did really good though. I'm surprised. You actually killed it,"Aaron said, sitting up.

I sat up as well, crossing my legs. "Yeah, I've been playing a lot lately. I feel like I need to lose some weight,"I replied.

Aaron responded,"No way. You look beautiful just the way you are. I don't want you to change, okay Lei? You're perfect and I.." He suddenly stopped talking.

"And you what?"I urged him to continue.

Aaron took a deep breath and said,"I love you."

My eyes widened. Aaron and I have never said 'I love you' to each other before.

I looked up at Aaron, biting my lip. Then I finally spoke,"I...I love you too."

Aaron let out a deep breath. "Oh my god. I'm so glad you just said that. I was worried you didn't feel that same." I couldn't help but laugh a bit.

"Can I... Uh, can I kiss you Lei?"he asked. I slowly nodded, leaning in. Aaron kissed me and it felt so damn good. I've been waiting for our first kiss forever.

Aaron pulled away and said,"I don't care what anyone thinks. I want you to officially be my girlfriend. Screw media and their rumours. I'll jeopardize anything to be with you. Leilah, will you be my girlfriend?" I couldn't help but laugh at his sudden courage.

"Of course, you goof,"I laughed. Aaron kissed me again.

"Damn, life's good,"he sighed. I laughed and nodded. Life is definitely good.
