-Scarlett's POV-
I stood infront of my closet and stared at it blankly. I was deciding what to wear today. Tyde invited me over to dinner tonight since his family was back in town. I didn't know what to wear or if I should even go. But I agreed yesterday when he asked me. I finally found a black skirt and a white T shirt to wear with some Converse. Simple but nice I guess. I grabbed a purse Kate had gotten for me and put my phone inside of it.
Mason offered to drive me to the Mellets house. I waked out of my room and knocked on his door. "Ready?" He asked.
I nodded, "Yup." We walked out to the car.-Tydes POV-
I put on a blue button up shirt and looked at myself in the mirror. My mum had already met Scarlett but no one else in my family has. Now that Troye, Sage, Steele, and my dad were home for holiday I thought it'd be a great idea to introduce her to everyone.
I wasn't too sure about my outfit though. Didn't know if it was appropriate enough. I went next door to my brother Troye's room. "Troye." I knocked.
"Come in!" He called back. I opened the door and he was sitting at his desk on his phone. "What's up?" He asked.
"How does this looks for tonight?"
"You look good." Troye said with out looking up from his phone.
"You didn't even look at me."
"Don't have to, I already know."
I sighed, "Connor how does this look?" Connor was one of Troye's best friends. He was spending New Years here with us aswell. "You look great Tyde." He said with a smile.
"Ty, why are you so concerned?" Troye looked up at me.
"Because one of my friends is coming over to meet all of you."
"Her?" Connor spoke up.
"A girl!?" Troye added.
I nodded, "Yes a girl, and I'd really like to impress her."
"TYDES GOT A GIRL FRIEND! TYDES GOT A GIRL FRIEND!" They both yelled.
"I do not. She doesn't want to be my girl friend."
"Who wouldn't want to date you?" Connor asked.
"Shush. She'll be here soon by the way, and I'd really love it if you guys met her."
"Of course." Troye walked over to me and kissed the top of my head.
"Thank you." I left his room and ran downstairs to go check what my mum was cooking for dinner.
"Mum." I said as I walked into the kitchen.
"Yes dear." She said back to me.
"What are you cooking for dinner?"
"Some chicken with potatoes and asparagus."
"And for desert?"
"I was supposed to get desert?"
"There's not going to be desert?"
"Tyde calm down." My sister Sage said.
"Who said I wasn't calm?"
"I don't even know why he's worried, we're nice people." My dad said as he entered the room.
"You're not even dating so there's much less to worry about." My other brother Steele added as he pop opened a beer.
They're right. I need to calm down. It's just dinner anyway. Nothing else.
The door bell rang, "I'll get it."
I ran to the door and took in a deep breath before opening it. "Hello." I said with a smile.
Scarlett stood in the door way wearing a white shirt and a skirt. Her curly hair fell below her shoulders and she looked up at me with a soft smile. "Hello Tyde."
"Come on in." She stepped inside and I closed the door behind her. "Follow me."
The both of us walked side by side into the kitchen where my parents were.
"You already know my mum right?" I asked.
She nodded, "Of course. It's great to see you again Mrs. Mellet." They shook hands.
"Welcome back Scarlett."
"Scarlett this is my dad Shaun. Dad this is Scarlett."
My dad smiled and shook her hand, "Pleasure meeting you dear."
"The pleasure is mine Mr. Mellet."
We walked into the living room where my brothers, sister, and Connor were.
"Everyone this is my friend Scarlett." I said.
Troye was the first one to come over to her and introduce himself. "Hi Scarlett, it's nice to meet you. I'm Troye."
"Nice to finally meet you. Your brother has told me lots about you."
"Good things I hope." Troye laughed and hugged me.
"Of course. Scarlett, that's Sage and Steele. My older sister and brother."
"Hello."
They both waved at her, "And this is Connor. Troye's friend."
Connor walked over to her and embraced her in a hug. "Sorry I'm from Minnesota, we just hug everyone there." He laughed.
"That's alright. Wouldn't mind a friendly hug." Scarlett replied.
"Dinner is ready everyone!" My mum called.
All of us walked into the dining room and sat down. In between Scarlett and Connor. Troye, Steele, and age sat across from us, and my parents sat at the ends of the table.-Scarlett's POV-
Everyone around the table was talking to eachother. I just sat there listening as I ate my food. Sage was talking about how she's heading off to South Africa in the upcoming year. I didn't quite hear why. Troye said he just got back from doing a US and Europe tour. He'll be doing a second in February. Connor talked about how much he enjoyed touring with Troye. Steele just talked about how it was living on his own. "So Scarlett. Tell us about yourself." Shaun said.
I looked up from my plate and faced him, "What would you like to know?" I smiled.
"Anything. Where you're from, where you grew up."
"Um, okay. Well I was born in Albany Australia. I lived with both of my parents. We were a close family, kind of like all of you. Exept a lot smaller." I glanced at everyone, they just nodded and listened. "Then when I was ten years old. They passed away in a car accident." I felt someone grab my hand from underneath the table. It made me tense up a little.
"I'm sorry for your loss." Connor spoke up.
I nodded, "Thank you. So after that happened I went into foster care and moved here to Perth."
"So you live with a foster family?" Sage asked.
I nodded. Everything got awkward soon after I finished talking. Laurelle began to pick up the plates, "Let me help you with that." I offered her. I released Tyde's hand and picked up the dishes around me.
"Scarlett you don't have to do that honey. You're our guest." She said.
"I insist." I walked the dishes over to the kitchen and put them in the sink. Laurelle said her and Shaun could do the rest from here.***
Tyde and I sat in his bed. We were just talking and listening to music. "Thank you for coming tonight." He said.
"No problem. I actually enjoy being here. And your family is great."
"Everyone really liked you. Well except my sister, shes over protective."
"What really?"
Tyde laughed, "No I'm kidding. She loves you."
I smiled, "That's good to know. And of course my parents adored you."
"What can I say? I have a gift." Tyde boasted. I laughed at him.
"So what do you want to do now?"
He shrugged, "Oh I love this song." Tyde turned up the volume on his laptop.
"What song is this?"
"It's called Gasoline by Troye Sivan. Also my brother." He smiled.
"Why is it your favourite song?"
Tyde shrugged, "I guess the message. The pain in the lyrics and the sadness of his voice. As you could tell, it's an excellent break up song."
"What you're favourite lyric?"
"There's this part in the chorus that goes Please bathe my now, wash me clean, just set my heart on fire. Like gasoline."
"What does that mean?"
"Regret." A deeper voice came from the doorway.
We both turned and saw Troye standing there. He walked over to us and sat down. "Regret that I treated the person so bad. And how I want to take it back, but I can't. Because I hurt that person so much I don't deserve love anymore. Thus causing me to set my heart on fire."
I nodded, "That's deep."
"And sad." Tyde added.
"But it's a great song." Troye smiled.***
Tyde walked me outside. I told him Mason was almost here to pick me up. "Thanks again." I said.
"No thank you."
"Tonight was great."
"That's good to know. We're actually going to the beach on Saturday if you'd like to come."
I nodded, "I'll let you know."
Tyde opened up his arms and I walked into his embrace. I would've thought this was weird or uncomfortable. But it wasn't, it was warm and welcoming.
A car horn sound and I jumped back. "Hey!" Mason called from the car window.
Tyde waved. "I should go." I smiled.
"Talked to you soon?"
"We'll see." I smirked and jumped into Masons car.
"Hope I didn't interupt anything."
I shook my head, "No you didn't." I replied as I put my seat belt on.
