-Scarlett's POV -

It has officially been on week since school let out on Holiday and three days since the dinner with the Mellets. Tyde and I haven't really seen eachother since then but we've spoken on the phone. He invited me to a picnic his family was having on the beach later today. Now I'm starting to think that we go to the beach too much. Frankly, I didn't mind, it was our place.
I had just finished getting ready. I put on a pair of shorts, a tank top, and a pair of white Converse. Kate had taken me shopping a few weeks ago, so now I had more clothes. I put my hair into two French braids, thanks to Christina I knew how to. Tyde texted me that he, Troye, and Connor were on their way to come pick me up.
It was around four in the afternoon. Kate and Joshua were at work. Mason was right next door. I walked out of my room and headed to his room. "Mason." I knocked.
"Come in." He replied. I opened the door and saw him sitting on his bed on his laptop. "What's up?"
"Just wanted to let you know that I'm going out."
"Okay, with who? You're boyfriend?" He smirked.
"Tyde is not my boyfriend."
"It sure seems like it. I mean you're both pretty close."
"Just because we talk and hang out a lot doesn't mean we're close."
He scoffed, "Okay. If you say so."
My phone went off. Tyde texted me that they were outside. "He's here. Bye Mason."
"Bye!" I closed the door behind me and ran outside to the car. I opened the back door and hopped in.
"Hey guys." I said as I buckled my seat belt.
"Hi Scarlett." Troye and Connor said from the front seats.
"Hey." Tyde said with a smile.

-Tydes POV-

When we got to the park where the cook out was being held I sat down at a bench. I served myself a drink and a few crisps. Scarlett sat next to me, "Beautiful day." She said to me.
I nodded, "Yeah, it is." I took out my phone and went on Twitter, just to occupy myself. I knew Scarlett was feeling awkward because she got up to talk to Connor. A sense of relief came to me once she left.
For some reason I was nervous to be around her right now. The past couple of weeks have felt odd for me. I couldn't stop thinking about her. But why?
I needed to ask someone for help. I needed to ask Troye. He was my best friend and I always went to him for advice.
I put my phone away and walked over to my brother. He was with his best friend, Kayla.
"Troye?" I asked him.
"Hey Ty, what's up?" He said walking away from Kayla.
"I need some advice."
"Okay, what about?"
"Scarlett."
"Coming to the gay brother for girl advice. Must be important." He said was we both sat down at a bench.

-Scarlett's POV-

I was sitting in the grass when I got a phone call from Brandon. I stood up to answer it. "Hello?"
"Hey, how's the cook out going?"
"Pretty good."
"Are you hanging out with Tyde?"
"No."
"What? Why?"
"I don't know. What does it mean when a guy avoids you?" I asked.
"Haha, now you see how it feels. Hurts doesn't it?"
"Yes it does! Please help me."
"How is he avoiding you?"
"He hasn't really been talking to me."
"Foods ready!" I heard Laurelle call.
"Listen, Brandon, I'll call you back." I hung up on him and walked over to the table. I sat next to Tyde, he must've been talking to Troye.
"Hey, what are you guys talking about?" I asked, mostly to get more of a single word out of Tyde.
Tyde looked up at Troye then faced me, "Nothing. Do you want to eat? Foods ready?"
"Yeah, I know. You're Mum kind of announced that." I said.
"Right." Tyde picked up his drink and began to chug the rest of it down. After that he didn't say anything to me.
I wanted to ask if I had done something. Something wrong. But I didn't want to make matters worse, so I just sat there and served myself a plate of food.

The cook out was great. I had one too many burgers and crisps. Mr. And Mrs. Mellet were cleaning up and Tyde and I were walking around the beach. He hadn't said much today. I'm actually shocked that he wanted to go out for a walk. He was still silent. Didn't say anything other than, "Look at that."
I nudged him, "What's going on Tyde?"
"Hmm?" He asked facing me.
"You're not acting yourself. What's the matter?"
He took a deep breath, "There's something I have to tell you."
"What is it?" I stopped walking and faced him. I looked up at him and he just stood there staring down at me. I knew he wanted to say something important. Though he couldn't find the words to say it.
"Scarlett, ever since the last time we were here I haven't stopped thinking about you. After telling me that I made you happy I couldn't get you're smile in the night out of my head. And at dinner a few nights ago, there was a spark between us before you left." He held one of my hands. "Tell me that you felt it aswell."
I didn't know what to say except for, "Tyde..." in a light whisper.
"I like you Scarlett. A lot. Do you feel the same way?"
Everything that I had feared was soon becoming true and I didn't know how to cope with it. I let his hand go and took a step back. "I can't answer this right now."
His eyes soon shifted from mine to the shore. I knew I hurt him. I didn't mean to, I didn't want to. Hurting Tyde is the last thing I should do because he's been so sweet to me.
"Okay, I'll give you some time to think about it." He finally said. With that he left me. Standing alone near the water. I just stared at him as he walked away from me. I really did fuck something up.

-Tyde's POV-

I sat down next to a very intoxicated Troye and sighed. "Hey maaaannnn," Troye slurred, "How'd it gooo?"
I looked over at him and shook my head, "She said she needed some time to think about it." I dropped my head, "I shouldn't have told her Troye. I only told her because I thought she felt the same way. Turns out I was wrong."
Troye put his hand on my shoulder, "All she said was that she needed to think about it. Right?" I nodded, "That doesn't mean that she isn't into you."
A heavy weight soon lifted off of my chest. Drunk Troye was right. Scarlett didn't quite give me a straight forward answer.

Everyone was cleaning up except for me. I just sat on a rock in the sand and stared at the sky. It was turning a pastel pink and purple, mixed with a little orange from the sun. Sundown was my favourite time of day. I loved seeing the sun get swallowed by the ocean and witness the sky turn different and beautiful colours.
"Hey." I heard someone say behind me. I turned around and there was Scarlett. "Do you mind if I sit down?" She asked.
I shook my head no and she sat down right next to me. I didn't say a word, I just wanted her to speak right now.
"Its amazing, the sky." I looked at her, "How beautiful nature could be." She looked over at me.

-Scarlett's POV-

"Tyde, I'm sorry if I hurt you. I know how you feel about me."
"I really like you Scarlett, and I would really." Tyde spoke up.
I nodded, "I know you do." I looked at Tyde. I urged myself to in twine our fingers together and hold his hand. "And I feel the same way."
Tyde soon formed a small smile on his face, "Really?"
I nodded, "Yes really. Tyde, I've never really, felt like this about anyone before."
"Neither have I." I giggled and smiled as I brought him into a hug. As soon was we released eachother, we sat there.
We were so close that we shared the same breath. I looked into Tyde's eyes, the we're filled with hope and joy. I cupped his cheek with my right hand and smiled. He began to lean in but I stopped him with my thumb on his lips.
"What's wrong?" He whispered.
"I've actually never kissed anyone before. You're my first."
He smiled a proud smile then ran his fingers through my tangled hair. "Its easy." He explained, and I did what he said. "Close you're eyes. Lean in close. And you just...go for it."
With my eyes closed I felt his lips soon connect with mine. They were soft and lush. I felt butterflies form in the pit of my stomach, felt that time had paused in this moment, and we were the only ones here. When we parted, I opened my eyes and looked at him.
"See, it wasn't that hard." Tyde smiled. I laughed and hugged him.
