She snuck around the corner of the hallway and behind the kitchen. Jack sat there playing with the tail from his costume. It was yellow with brown dots all over it and had cat-like ears.

"Are you a cheetah?" Ellie guessed.
"No," he said, offended. "I'm a Jack-guire." Jack raised his eyebrows up and down expecting praise.

Oh my-

"And yer an Ellie-phant."

I'm done.

"Get it?" He asked. Ellie nodded, maintaining a straight face that disappointed Jack.
"I thought it was clever-"
"Shhh," Ellie hushed him and put her back against the wall beside him. The sound of footsteps became closer and closer. Soon a few people walked through the kitchen and near Collins' office.
"Well it doesn't matter what I said before," one of them said.
"But sir, that's completely unfair!" Dr. Collins' voice rang. "And not to mention completely unethical," he added. His voice became very distant.

Once they were gone Ellie led the way to the front door. It was unlocked and they made it outside without any further interruptions. A smile formed across her face as she took the first step outside. The air was chilly, and smelt of a busy street corner. The jingle of keys became louder as Jack removed them from his pocket. The night sky amazed Ellie.
"Stars," she whispered to herself, looking at the sky. She wouldn't look back down. Jack thought this was hysterical. He grabbed her hand and led her to the car, giving her directions of when to step up or to the left while she looked at the sky.

"I guess ya could say ye're 'star-struck'," he laughed. Ellie looked back down giggling at his joke. Her blue eyes seemed to twinkle under the starlight. "Okay, let's go."

He opened the door to his truck. It was a light blue truck, very old-looking and rusted. It was just her style. She hopped in and shut the door. The jaguar sitting beside her started the car and drove off.  As they slowly drove off Ellie watched the Institute get smaller. Her heart stopped when all the lights inside went on and she saw Dr. Collins curtains peel back and him watching them leave, yelling something she desperately needed to hear.
