She was walking....

She was walking in one of the most crowded streets of Manhattan. She wanted to clear her mind, and if possible, to forget about this disturbing and consuming event.

To forget about that envelope.

She wanted, no... needed, to think what she could do from now on. How can she deal with it and it's consequences? Can she even go there? Can she leave the people she cares most in the world behind and her dreams, just so she can learn about this mysterious and unknown world that, in a way, she is a part of. To learn about that weird mark. The weird mark on the nape of her neck. To learn
how to control her ability?

Yes. Ability.

She sighed. She was thinking about so many things all day that she started to have a horrible headache. All day. And know here she was, walking and watching the cloudy night sky of Manhattan.

'Just the mirror that i wanted to show me my exact feelings. What an irony. 'she laughed mentally.

It was just like the universe was playing games on her. Oh...how much she wanted to be with the people she loves right now , laughing and throwing jokes about every little and unimportant thing, in this important day of her life. To be happy instead of feeling sad, worried and anxious.

She needed air.

She wanted to see the town, even if it was for one last time. Maybe she won't be able to see it again, after all.

To see the laughing couples having 'private' times in public places.

Normal.

To see groups of high school students laughing about a sarcastic joke that someone made for a weird looking guy that passed in front of them.

Normal.

To see families in one of the most expensive restaurants of Manhattan to chat and laugh about their boring day.

Normal.

Normal, she thought.

Everything around her was that. Normal...

But she wasn't normal. She wasn't like any other seventeen year old teenage girl of her school. No. Not her.

She was an Esper. A special one. A special one with a unique ability and an important purpose to life that no other human soul should know about. She couldn't be normal. She wasn't.

And now the envelope had come. The envelope of the so call Solons Academy. The best esper Academy for centuries and centuries. The envelope that came today. At her doorsteps. The first thing she saw in the morning of her seventeenth birthday.

How lucky she was...

What a wonderful way of someone to sent you 'happy birthday'. She sarcastically though.

She knew, that soon or later they would come for her. To fetch her. After all she sure was an esper. A magical creature. Just like her mother. Although her mother lost, for some unknown reason, her ability....or abilities.

Or at least that's what she says.

She still couldn't forget the sad and worried look on her mother's face when she came into her bedroom and handed her the envelope.

She still couldn't quite understand why her mother was so sad and tense at the slightest mention of the magical world. She wanted to know what happened to her. The curiosity was too much. But she never was capable of asking that question to her mother.

Although Anna wanted a normal life, she couldn't help but be intrigued about the espers and this enchanting and, at the same time, dangerous world.

But could she live there? Could she use her power without the fear of losing control? She needed control in her life. She needed to go there. Deep down she knew it. Even though she didn't want to talk about it. Will she be able to become a powerful esper, a warrior, and maintain the balance between the human world and the magical world. Will she be able to fit with the rest of the magical world?

She wasn't a person to easily give up. Every time the fate had a mischievous plan throwing it her way she always managed to get through it.

Just like with her father's murder. Although he was a human, for her he was the best warrior, the best fighter, her hero. That horrible night that her twelfth year old self find out about her daddy's intentionally death, she was devastated. The memory was imprinted hard on her mind. But she had to be strong. For herself and for her mother.

Just like her dad would have wanted her to be.

That's what she has to do now. She would get through it. Who knows? Maybe it won't be that bad. Maybe something good will come out of it.

Anna tried to be optimistic, running a hand through her silky, long, straight ombre brown hair that were 'illuminated' by the lights of a glorious five star hotel on the sidewalk street she was moving on right now.

Suddenly she stopped walking and composed herself.

She will go.

She will go and try her best. She would do it. She would do it for her father. Charles Nash. The person who teach her to never give up and to never go down without a fight. She wanted to make him proud even though he wasn't with her anymore to provide her with his comforting love and tell her everything will be allright. She would do it for her mother. Evelyn Nash. The woman that was always by her side, loved her with all her heart and work hard to give her daughter everything she needed.

The woman with....so many hidden secrets... that Anna was intended to find out in this journey. A journey she didn't know where could it lead.

She was ready. She had to be.

She made her choice, that night.

A choice that she couldn't imagine it will change her whole life.

She turned around and start walking back to her house. A house, she will leave behind in order to learn more about herself. A house with all the memories of her childhood years, of her mother, of her father and also of her best friend, Seth.

She will miss him. A lot. Oh.. If she could hide him in one of her still unpacked suitcases, to take him with her, she would do it without second thoughts. But she couldn't.

She will face it alone with the best of her capabilities.

It was time.

It was time to face her nature.

Her purpose.

I'm ready.

I'm ready, she repeated as she pushed the wooden door of her house open, after crossing the big beautiful garden that her mother and her created in their free time, over the years.

She saw the envelope lying on the little wooden table next to the door from the little moon light that was coming through the huge windows of the living room and hesitantly opened it one more time. As if she wanted to make sure it was real.

Again.

And for one more time she read it.

Miss Annabella Nash,
