Anna wished she was prepared.

Wish she’d taken the time to do a little more research by reading a weekend’s worth books about the Academy's system and rules.

Because this—this school—this insane social scene—felt as foreign and chaotic as the
day she got lost in the Moroccan medina when she had been in holidays with Evelyn.

It was all about the bells and the insanely strict rules about the suitable behavior and the importance of every class and subject in the students schedule, according to their rank. Bells were in charge around here—they ruled everything. They ushered them to class, scolded them when the students were late, then proded them again when it was time to move on.

The sequence were repeating over and over—until Anna was just like everyone else, numbly reacting to that abruptly shrill sound. In a way it was like her school in the human world, but with more calculations, incredibly strict rules and foreign alien-like subjects that she couldn't even imagine they existed.

But the thing was... Anna was  not like everyone else. She was  not like anyone she has seen so far. Although, she was an esper too, she felt so distant from the whole mass that in a way it was scaring her.

And despite her futile attempts to blend in, thanks to the events of that night and her annoying encounter with Brianna Force in the classroom that day, Anna now stood out in the worst way.

Nothing in her life had prepared her for this. Not even a simple advice from Evelyn or a simple lesson of how to use, in a better way, her untamed and wild ability and not make a fool out of herself in her training fight lesson she previously had. Not one single thing.

She felt like a lab rat stuck
in some horrible experiment meant to measure how she adapt to brutal forms of social segrega-
tion and weirdness. And the sad news was, Anna was producing way below average results.

She couldn't imagine, it would have been so difficult. After all, a couple of weeks ago, she didn't even know how the Magical world was. The only thing she knew her whole life was that she was an esper. That's all. Just a title. Just a sigh to be put in an unknown category.

Anna stood to the side of the magnificent lunchroom, or cafeteria, or whatever they call such a royal place. Obviously, it wasn't like the filthy, damaged, crowded canteen of her old high school.

The vegetarian lunch, Anna had purchased, not minutes ago,  tightly clutched in her fist, though she had absolute no clue
as to where she was supposed to go eat it.

Having already committed the most heinous crime of all by sitting at the wrong table, she was not sure she was up for trying again. She was still shaken with anger by the way those girls acted—so self-righteous and territorial, so burdened by her presence at the end of their bench. And yes. She was talking about Brianna's squad.

It’s the seniors’ table, she was told. Anna had no right to sit there. Ever. And that included holidays and weekends, obviously, according to the high rank royal bitch.

Seriously.... Brianna was playing with fire. She may be a royal but as sure as Anna was, she was praying to know Anna's fist and how good it will apply on her high mighty nose. Anna was already annoyed by her worst first day in the Academy ever, and obviously after she had missed the first days and classes because of the incident, you couldn't say she was a ball of sunshine today.

“Duly noted,” Anna had replied, grabbing her lunch and standing before them. She wasn't in the mood to cause trouble and face Tenjin again. She didn't wanted to become the weird troublesome and ill-mannered newbie. She was already feeling like an outcast, among the royal students, with whom she had all her classes with.
