Chapter 21

"Excuse me but who are you?" I heard a voice say then I looked up to see Dartez's mother standing over me.

What should I say? This lady gonna ask me a thousand questions like... "how did this happen and where were you?" Should I sit her down and tell it all to her slow or lie? Damn.

I'm Dartez's boyfriend, August. Nice to meet you." I said standing up and going in to shake her hand but she looked at me stupid.

"How dare you act as if everything is okay when you almost got my daughter killer!!" **SLAP!***

I just held my face. If I didn't have so much love and respect for Dartez, I promise I would have pulled out my gun and killed her.

"I understand your upset but I can explain." I said.

"Oh you can?! We'll explain, please. I want to hear this." she said folding her arms across her chest and standing in her hip.

"I think this was all her step dad and other mom trying to get back at us.See Dartez told me how he would always do her wrong and I handled it for her and her step dad and I had an altercation. They both ran off and me and Dartez haven't seen them in awhile. I know it was him, I can feel it."

"I wish Dartez would have told me this. I can't believe she kept this all from me. She didn't even mention having a boyfriend." Dartez mom said. Tears started pouring out of her eyes.

I took her into a hug and rubbed her back and told her to relax. This is a very depressing time for a lot of people but we have to be strong for Dartez's sake.

"I don't fault you for anything now that I know this was out of protection but I have some questions for you." her mom said.

I nodded and waited for her question she had.

"Do you love my daughter?"

"Yes ma'am. More than anything." I said truthfully.

"How long have you been seeing her?"

"Umm about three months. Over those three months, Dartez has taught me a lot."

"What do you do?"

"You want the truth miss?"

"yes. The truth would be nice."

"I sell drugs." I whispered to her. Her face expression slightly changed.

"Do you plan on getting a real job to be able to actually support Dartez?"

"yes ma'am. I thought about it, I just haven't done it yet."

"Just take care of her, okay? My daughters are all I have. I lost them once and I refuse to lose them again."

"yes ma'am. I promise."

after we had our little talk, we walked to the room after Alvae and Aaliyah came out the room. I saw Dartez laying in the bed with scratches and a patch on her forehead.

I sat on the edge of the bed while her mom kissed her on the cheek then sat in the chair on side of the bed.

I stared down at Dartez wishing she would wake up. When she gets out of here, ill do anything to make things better. Dartez officially got me under her thumb.
