He had heard The General begin his speech. And he knew what it was about. Overfilled with joy, Malphas ran back to his house, where he was met by his parents. "Mom, Dad, The General is here! And he is recruiting boys for the Army!" Malphas said running around, collecting things he thought he would need. "Really son? That's amazing!" His father exclaimed with happiness. "Oh!" His mother said. "Well then I best give you some bread to take." "No Momma, do not worry about food for me, they give us food. You guys need to keep the food, it should be easier with one less mouth around here anyway." Malphas said as he hugged his siblings and kissed his mother farewell. Malphas happily trudged along the path back to the platform, whistling to himself as his friends laughed and ran by him. Malphas had almost reached the end of the street he was walking, when a shadow appeared from a small alley and pulled him aside.
