Chapter 13: Death

Ted and Jim sat quietly on the roof on guard duty. It was about noon now. It had been a couple of days since the attack. Gen started to recover from the blast. Adam didn't tell anyone what he found. Ev was to the point where the walls were just covered in knives after a couple of minutes and he now could hit almost anything with the knives. He killed a spider on the wall with a knife at one point. Jakob had fixed up Ben's axe and gave Ben a proper burial. The past couple of days had been trouble. Tons of sickos had been attracted by all the fighting and now they swarmed the Y constantly. The good news was that they hadn't been to hard to manage. The field on the side of the Y was still blood stained and covered in bullet casings and broken knives. Jakob was hoping Matthew would come and surrender but no such luck. Bob had been watching over Jaden. During the fight Jaden had hidden in the basement of the Y.
"I wonder how Eddy would have handled this" said Ted
"He would have probably smashed their heads in " replied Jim
Ted giggled.
"I'm glad you're still alive and here " said Ted
Jim smiled.
Bob then came up onto the roof.
"Sicko duty sucks " said Bob
The other two nodded in agreement.
The three of them chated for a little bit until heard something. It was like a faint hum. Bob scanned the roads but saw no cars moving. The hum was getting louder and quickly. Ev sat bored in his bed. He never did like spending much time in bed. Except before everything happened to make the world the way it is now. He could hear a really faint humming.
"Hm"
He continued to listen very closely. The hum was getting louder. As it grew to a point where he could hear it plainly he knew what it was. He had heard the same hum when Matthew's group first arrived.
Bob now knew what it was. It was a helicopter. He looked up at the sky and saw one almost to the Y. Jim and Ted saw it by this point.
"I'll go get Adam " said Jim
He got up and ran down the stairs into the Y. Adam came up a little bit later. The helicopter was circling the Y. Adam looked through the scope of his rifle to get a better view. He saw Miranda was flying it and Andy was doing something. He then saw it. Andy was loading a grenade launcher.
"Move"! Yelled Adam
A grenade came flying through the air and hit the roof. The explosion punched a hole in the roof. Seconds later another one hit the side of the Y. The wall collapsed and showed the inner parts of the Y. Adam and Ted plus Bob had spread out on the roof. One flew straight at Ted. Ted raised the shield and made it bounce off to the side. The grenade's explosion knocked over Ted. Adam took this moment of opportunity to fire back at them. A shot broke the glass on the helicopter. Jakob popped his head out from inside of the Y.
"What's happening "?! Asked Jakob
"They're attacking us"! Yelled Adam
"Where did they get another helicopter from"?!
"I don't know "!
"Everyone is inside safe...well Ev is still in his room...he's got a box on his head...good enough I guess" said Jakob
Another grenade flew by. This one went threw the window and into the Y. Jakob went back down. Adam heard him curse loudly as he went down. Adam fired some more shots. He saw some loose grenades in the back of the helicopter. He took aim. He fired. The shot hit. The entire back of the helicopter burst into flames. The helicopter went into a spinning dive towards the Y.
"Come on grab your parachute and jump"! Yelled Andy
Miranda shook her head.
"I want this" she said
Andy jumped and deployed his parachute. The helicopter was now super close to the Y. Miranda squeezed her eyes shut. The helicopter smashed into the side of the Y. Taking out an entire room of it. Andy landed safely then took off running towards the woods. Adam fired a couple of shots at him but none hit. Adam, Ted and Bob cheered.
"We did it"! Yelled Ted
Jakob ran upstairs his face was not happy.
"We did it Jake " said Bob
Jakob was still frowning.
"What..."? Asked Adam
"The helicopter took out a whole room and Jim was in there" said Jakob.
