The last paragraph is super cute I think so please don't skip over it!
"Here, I got you coffee." That's the first thing Quinten says to me on Monday morning as I close the door to his car. "Really? Ah, thank you so much!" I gush with a huge smile on my face. "Anytime." He says and takes a sip of his coffee. "And hey," he starts to get my attention. "Yeah?" He looks over at me. "No matter what Rowan says, you can forgive him. I know he's gonna try to talk to you but he doesn't deserve it." I smile fondly at Quinten. "Of course." He's always looking out for me.
We arrive at school and I prepare myself for the day ahead. I walk through the halls with my head held high as I make my way over to my locker. I see Molly waiting next to it. "Hey, Molly." I say with a smile. She just frowns at me. "Why did you leave the party early?" She asks with a slight whine. My smile falters but I don't think she notices. "I wasn't really feeling good. Alcohol really isn't my thing I guess. Quinten took me home though." I explain. It wasn't a complete lie. I'm not that into alcohol and Quinten did take me home. Well, his home.
"Oh, okay. You're forgiven! Anyways, you're coming to my house tomorrow!" Molly tells me without giving me a choice. I chuckle lightly. "I have no problem with it, but why so suddenly?" I ask. She sighs. "I was hoping you wouldn't see through me. My parents are hosting a weird dinner party thing tomorrow. I have no clue why they chose to do it on a Tuesday." She groans. Molly's parents' parties are the worse. They're always so fancy and uptight- just like her parents. They're nice people but they flaunt their money at these parties. I'm not poor, but not as rich as Molly and her family. But that's what I love about Molly. She's carefree and crazy, and couldn't care less about money.
"You're joking, right?" I say as I turn towards my best friend. "Ha, I wish." Molly replied with an eye roll. "So why are they having a party this time?" I ask. "My mom got a promotion." She says with annoyance in her tone. My eyes widen. "Again?!" This lady is always getting a raise or a promotion. It's crazy! Molly just nods her head. "Fine. I'll go." I grumble. Her face lights up. "Ah thank you so much!" I wave it off, indicating that I don't mind too much.
I feel a presence begin us but I don't need to guess who it is considering they start talking. "Hey guys!" Rowan says. I tighten my grip on my locker. "Hey, Rowan!" Molly chirps. I say nothing and procrastinate turning around. Besides, he can't keep us this act forever.Right?
"Morning, Braelynn." Rowan says with a discrete smirk as I turn around finally. I just ignore him. Lucky me though, I have first period with him. I turn towards Molly. "Whelp, I'm gonna head to my first class. See ya at lunch!" She gives me a weird look but nods slowly. "Uh, yea. See you at lunch." I walk quickly down the hall as I make my way to class. I know that you can't avoid your problems forever, but I can try.
I brace myself for lunch as I take each long stride down the hallway. I quickly make my way over to the lunch table with my friends, the one we always sit at. I sit down quietly next to Quinten. The only person missing at our table is Rowan, and a small part of me hopes he won't bother us anymore, but I know that won't happen. As if on cue, the devil walks over, acting as if everything is peachy. A boyish grin is plastered on his fake face. "Hey guys!" Rowan chirps. I grit my teeth in annoyance. "Rowan, you're no longer welcome here." Quinten speaks up before anyone else can give their greetings.
"Quinten, what do you mean?" Rowan asks, his lips forming a small smirk. Quinten glares at the younger boy, but Rowan's act does not falter. "I mean, you can't sit here anymore, and a few of us would prefer if you would no longer associate with us." I suck in my breath. I need to say something, stand up for myself. "But what did I do?" Rowan questions, pushing him further. I turn around and look at him. "Rowan, you need to leave. No one appreciates your presence. You know what you did." I mentally fist pump the air. I was able to say something and my voice didn't crack or anything! I actually sounded stable!
"Crybaby." Rowan mumbles under his breath as he turns on his heel and storms away. I see Quinten looking over at me with wide eyes. "That was good." He says. I smile, but it doesn't quite reach my eyes. I realize the breath I had been holding in. I turn back around and notice my friends looking at us, clearly confused with the situation.
Quinten holds up a hand as Gage goes to talk. "I wouldn't worry about it. All that matters is that he was a complete ass to Braelynn and he shouldn't sit here anymore." Everyone but Molly understands the message that is in Quinten's words. Of course she wouldn't, she's not used to Rowan's antics. I give a grateful smile to Quinten. Molly shoots me a questioning look, and I shake my head to indicate that I didn't want to talk about it. 'Later' I mouth to her and she nods her head.

The last period of the day finally rolls around, photography. I have that class with Braelynn. Id say she was probably my only friends in that class. I mean, I do have other friends in the class, but Braelynn is the only close friend. A lot of people know me, I'm just well known around school. I hate saying I'm popular. That just makes me feel like I'm giving into to teenage stereotypes.
I walk into class and put my bag on the ground next to Braelynn's. I give her a small smile as I sit down. She's already doing the warmup in her notebook. We are currently learning about the history of cameras and photography, things like that.
I notice how her tongue pokes slightly out of the right side of her mouth. I notice how she grips her pencil close to the point, but not too close. I notice how her head is tilted to the right a bit, giving me a better view of the left side of her face. I notice how she sits on the edge of her seat, as if her notes are the most exciting thing ever. I notice how she takes up most of the desk as she rests her arms upon it, in order to keep her notebook in place. I notice how she leans in close to the paper, her face only a little over an inch away from it. I notice the way her light brown hair hangs over her shoulder on one side, the rest draped hastily behind her other shoulder. I notice the natural highlights in her hair, evident in the classroom light. She looks simply stunning, but I know she will never be mine.
