I opened the door to my bedroom and there was Aisling tucked under the covers, clutching them with her tiny hands. I carefully I close the door behind me careful not to wake her. I slip under the covers gently and put my arm around her.
"Everything's going be okay" I whispered and slowly faded into sleep."Daddy!" I yelled, trying not trip over my dress. It was frilly and pink with pretty little flowers. Nothing like I would wear today.
"Hello my little princess" he calls putting down his briefcase and opening up his arms wide with his signature smile.
He had straight black hair just like me.He spun me around in circles as I giggled with glee.
"Who wants a piggy back ride!""Me, me, me!"
He swiftly picked me up and hoisted me onto his shoulders.
"Which way shall we go?"
I pointed forward and screamed
"That way!""This way?" He answered adjusting himself to the left.
"No, that way Daddy!"I replied still smiling.
"Of course princess!"
We jolted forward, him nearly tripping over his briefcase.
I released a loud giggle as my dad pulled himself up."You're going to hurt her!" Mom said, her tone was strong but you could till that she was holding back laughs as she cooked dinner.
Everybody was happy, my dad a successful lawyer, my mom happy for once in a beautiful country home. Everything was perfect, like it should be.
Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep."Ughhhhhh"
My hands dance over my desk until I found the alarm clock and I slammed on the snooze button. Aisling was deaf to the noise, her head still cuddled up under my arm.
"Ashy time to go to school"
my voice hung onto the last bits of sleep.
She whines and pulls the sheets over her head.
I pull her up and carry her over my shoulder, her still whining all the way.
I go over to to our dresser and place her down. I pull a shirt and pants out and dress Aisling for school and me. I wear hoodies and jeans everyday, all day, even in summer, it's just more comfortable that way, and cheaper. After I had brushed Aislings and my hair, her complaining that pulled to hard at the knots, I went to the kitchen for breakfast."Yeah....uh huh.... Yeah, I'll tell him"
Mom places the phone back in its place and holds it there for a few seconds, as if deciding something. She finally looks over at me, a pained expression written on her face.
"Sky, I have something to tell you"
