I knocked on Allison's bedroom door and she opened it. "You ready?" I asked. She nodded and ran back and grabbed her phone and then came back. We walked to the car and drove to the Smiths' house. We got out and walked to the door. I knocked on the door. A few seconds later Mrs. Smith opened the door, smiling as usual. I smiled back at her. "Come in." she said and allowed us to walk in. "Nate!" Allison yelled excited. My smiled faded when I heard the name. He smiled as Allison hugged him. "Hey kiddo." he said to her. "Supper is ready, everyone go sit!" Mrs. Smith called from the kitchen. We all did as told and went to the table. Mr. Smith sat at the head of the table, Nathan sat on the right, Allison sat across from him, Johnny, Nathan's brother, sat next to her, so the only free seat was next to Nathan. I sighed and claimed the seat.
Mrs. Smith brought out the turkey and set it in the middle of the table before taking her seat at the end of the table.

After dinner we were sitting in the living room talking. "So, what do you do now, Johnny?" I asked Johnny. "I live up in Philly, working for a newspaper." he replied. "Cool." I said. "How about you?" he asked me. "Still living here, still working at the diner. But I also write stories and articles for magazines." I answered. He nodded, unimpressed. I sighed quietly and got up and walked into the kitchen.
Nathan was doing the dishes and I grabbed a cup out of the cabinet. I poured myself some sweet tea and leaned against the counter. "Why aren't you with Misty and Daniel?" he asked. "They're at their Gran's house." I replied. "Why are you here?" I looked at him like 'are you kidding me?' "Well if you recall, I don't have a family and my best friend is out of town, so I chose the people that treat me like family." I retorted. "And Kristen died three years ago so I can't very well visit her for dinner now can I?'
I threw my cup in the sink and stormed back into the living room. "It's getting late, I think we should go." I said to Allison. She nodded and got up. We said goodbye to everyone and we walked out of the house.
