Allison got out of the car. "See you Friday, love you!" I said. "Love you too, mom!" she replied, closing the car door and walking up the driveway, into her friend's house.
I drove over to Nate's house and honked the car horn. I saw a curtain move and then Nate came out the front door and got into the car. "Hey." I smiled. "Hey." he replied, putting on his seat belt. "Do you mind if my boyfriend joins us when he gets done with work?" I asked, looking over at him as I drove down the street. There was a bruise on his jawline. "No, I don't mind." he said. "What's tha-" I giggled. "Oh nevermind." He covered the bruise with this hand, making me giggle even more. "You are such a child." he said. "I've been told." I replied. "But seriously, did your parents see that?" "I don't think so." he said. I nodded. "You, sir, are mighty lucky that I carry my makeup around with me and that we are the same skin tone. I'll fix your face when we park." I said as I pulled into the parking lot. I got a parking space and turned off the car. I grabbed my bag and started covering up the bruises.
"While I'm at it, I'm gonna cover up these bags under your eyes. Have you been sleeping?" I asked. He shook his head. "For how long? Look up." He did and answered, "Around Thanksgiving." I shook my head. "Why?" He became quiet. "Whatever, I don't give a shit, just get a good nights sleep tonight, okay?" I said. He nodded, "Okay."

We put everything in the car and got in. "Thanks for the help." I said. I heard my phone ring and grabbed it. I looked at it and then closed it again. "My boyfriend is going to meet us for dinner." I said. "Alright." Nate said. "So, are you and your girlfriend going to the Christmas dance thing at town hall?" I asked. He shrugged. " I want to but it's Morgan's call." he said. "Why do you let her call the shots?" He just shrugged again. I took a deep breath and looked at the road.
I pulled into the parking lot and we got out. We walked inside and asked for a table. They took us to a table and we took off our coats and sat down. Neither of us even pickedup the menu as we already knew what we wanted.
Nate pulled up his jacket sleeve revealing scar filled wrists. I looked at them sadly and he noticed me staring and pullled the sleeves back down, hiding the cuts and scars. I was about to say something when Danny walked to the table. I smiled up at him and let him sit in the booth.

Dinner went by smoothly. We talked and we laughed and we just had an overall good time. Danny left before we did but paid for the whole meal despite my protests.

Nate and I went out to the car and got in. i started driving. Nate was looking down at his phone.

**Nate's POV**

I got a text from our roommate saying,

     From: Tali

Hey Nate, I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner but I'm moving out. I can't stand to listen to you two fight or see what she does to you, it's not good and I think you need to tell someone. I just can't, I'm sorry.

"You okay?" Mae asked. I nodded, "I'm fine." We pulled up in front of the house. "No, I mean back at dinnner, I saw-" I cut her off. "I'm fine Mae, please." I said, getting out of the car and walking toward the house. "This conversation isn't over, Nathan!"
