The little princess stood holding onto her stuffed green tiger. No one was telling her anything. Everyone was running around the Castle. That actually wasn't that out of the ordinary. The Castle was always busy. The difference today was that something big was happening, and not a single person would tell her what was happening.

Carrying her little friend, the little princess began to walk towards her father's study. He wasn't in the throne room, which seemed odd to her, but that did happen sometimes.

As she neared the study, she noticed a little fox dressed in finery, standing beside the closed door holding a sword.

Little Veena stopped before reaching the door. Watching, the fox, whom wasn't much taller than her, she frowned. Why was he standing outside the door?

The study door opened, and her father's voice drifted out into the hall.

"I will need to think about it, but he does deserve something for his bravery."

A man with a pointed hat walked out of the study. He didn't notice her as he turned to the fox.

"Didymus, you will need to stay here at the Castle for awhile. His Majesty needs time to decide on your reward."

The fox nodded, "of course, milord."

The man nodded and then glanced at Veena. He frowned, "I believe we should return to the others."

The fox nodded before he and the man walked away from the door.

Once they were heading down the stairs, the little princess walked up to the door.

"Daddy, what's going on? No one will tell me anything?"

Her father smiled at her, "don't worry, Precious. Why don't you come here, and I'll read you your favorite book?"

"Yeah!"

The little princess walked into the study. The reason for the busier than normal castle forgotten.

Chapter 21

The forest was seriously beginning to look the same to Adam. Each tree literally looked like the ones next to it. How could anyone find their way through this?

The dwarf, fox, and he wasn't sure what Ludo was were surrounding Veena as they traveled. They were off to one side, but the three of them formed a semi circle around her and well, Cringer. He followed slightly behind.

For some reason, Adam kept a close eye on the trees as they past. He had a feeling some one or something was watching them just out of view. He was tempted to pull our his sword, but he knew that it might cause what ever it was to likely attack.

"If I may, Your Highness, where have thee been the last few years?"

The fox and dwarf started to have an argument. It seemed like it was something they did very often.

Veena glanced over her shoulder at him, "you hear that?" She slowed to a stop, causing everyone else to as well.

Adam looked around them, "I didn't hear anything."

Veena slowly turned to face him, holding her staff, "something's watching us."

Adam nodded slowly as he looked behind her, "I've been thinking the same thing."

Tilting her head slightly, Veena glanced at the trio, "who could be watching us?"

Hoggle shrugged, "besides your father, I can't think of anyone."
