Frowning, Little Veena looked up at her barely visible ball on top of the wall. If one of her brothers was with her, they might have been able to get it down, but they were in one of their classes. Well, except for Fenris, who was with their mother since he was still getting over a cold. So she was alone in the garden playing. Well, she had been until her ball had ended up on the wall.
The little princess clinched her fists as she turned her back to the wall. Why did it feel as if everything happened to her? Behind her, frost began to creep up the wall, covering everything.
"Is something wrong, Your Highness?"
Unclinching her fists, Little Veena turned to look up as Captain Emeric walked up to her. So she hadn't been as alone as she had thought.
"Captain, could you please get my ball down?"
The captain smiled. "I think so. Would you like to help me?"
Returning his smile, he little princess nodded quickly. "Yes, please."
Captain Emeric knelt down in front of her. "If you get up on my shoulders, you should be able to reach it, Your Highness."
Little Veena, with the captain's help, got up on his shoulders. He kept a hand on her as he slowly stood and walked closer to the wall.
"That's odd. There's frost on the wall." The captain frowned slightly
"Captain, please. It's right there."
The captain moved closer to the wall, allowing her to reach over the tiny lip on the top of the wall to pick up her ball.
Once the ball was within her rasp, the captain slowly took a step back from the wall. "Have it, Your Highness?"
"Thank you, Captain Emeric." She smiled as the captain lowered her off his shoulders.
Once she was on the ground, the captain gave a slight a bow. "Your welcome, Your Highness."
The little princess skipped away laughing, with the ever watchful captain behind her.
Chapter 29
Sitting on Battle-cat's back at the edge of the re-closing drawbridge, Veena watched as He-man rushed over to met with Man-at-Arms, before deciding to go have a talk with the "former" captain.
"Alright, Battle-cat. Do your best not to look threatening? I don't want them to attack us on sight."
The massive cat nodded his head.
"Okay, let's go try to get us more allies."
Battle-cat jumped and wove his way through the fighting troops to reach a very surprised Captain Emeric.
"Your Majesty, how...when...?" Golden hair glistened in the sun as the captain suddenly knelt down on one knee. He then lowered his head.
"Captain, what are you doing here?" Veena wasn't that surprised by how he was acting towards her. He had always had a soft spot for her brothers and her.
"We're a small troop sent here to rescue Her Highness Princess Veena, Your Majesty."
"Who sent you, Captain?"
"Queen Mizumi."
"Aren't you all soldiers of the Goblin Kingdom, Captain?"
The captain raised his head. "We are not deserters, Your Majesty. King Jareth wasn't looking for you nor your sons. We had to do something."
