The fountain in the center of the private garden of the Royal family sparkled in the sunlight. The only person in the entire walled garden was the little princess.
She sat on the fountain's edge. Her brothers were off yet again with their lessons. Why couldn't she go? Her twin wasn't doing anything but watching. Why couldn't she?
The little princess looked into the pool of the fountain. The water began to ripple a little as she moved her hand towards the water's surface. Slowly, the water's surface began to freeze under her fingers.
"Veena, sweetie. What are you doing out here?"
Little Veena pulled her hand away from the water and turned towards her mother, "I wasn't allowed to go with them." She watched as her mother walked towards her.
Her mother frowned, "you mean the sword training, today?"
The little princess nodded, "yes, Mommy."
Nodding her head, her mother began to mumble, but little Veena couldn't hear what she said.
Her mother looked back at her, "why don't we go crash their training? I don't see any reason why you shouldn't learn how to fight."
The little princess jumped off the fountain and ran over to her mother, "really?"
Smiling, her mother nodded, "we better hurry. I don't think they've started just yet."
The little princess took her mother's hand, and the two of them entered the Castle on their mission.
Chapter 22
Veena stood with others behind her. She still couldn't believe he was here. Where was Adam? She glanced behind her towards the gate. Turning to face the Minotaur, she took a step forward.
"Stay next to the gate!"
She didn't look to see if they had stayed in place or not as she began to move to help He-man.
The Minotaur stood with its arms by its side , glaring. He-man stood braced for battle with his sword held in his right hand.
As Veena neared He-man, she noticed he was covered in bits of dirt and gravel. He clearly been fighting the Minotaur before they had arrived at the gate.
He glanced over at her, "it's much stronger than I thought."
Veena nodded. It was not the time to ask him how he was there or when had he gotten there.
He-man glanced behind him, "they won't open the gates while it's here, I'm guessing?"
"That's what the guard said. He wouldn't even open it for me."
He-man frowned, "that's not good."
"Yeah, I know."
"You idiots why haven't you activated Humongous! It would come in real handy about now!" Hoggle was yelling at the unseen guards.
"It's still not fixed from that runner."
Sighing, Veena turned back to face the Minotaur, "looks like we're on our own."
He-man nodded, "I thought as much." he glanced at her again, "I know you practiced barriers, but what else did you practice with the Sorceress?"
"Fire balls, but I wasn't any good. I never was able to hit the dummy."
"Anything else? What about making the storm leave? Can't you control the weather?"
Veena frowned, "I only ever sent storms away, not cause them."
