It's been about 2 weeks now since my sudden realization about my feelings for Mark, and for no apparent reason he's been the only thing on my mind aside from school. It astonishes me how much only one individual had changed me, intellectually and emotionally.
I've been trying to act normal around him, but there are times where I slip up and say something weird around him. I don't mean to make these mistakes, they just sort of slip out. I try and cover them up, but I think Mark is starting to catch on and get suspicious.
I don't know if anyone in the group has caught on to my shenanigans yet. I'm trying to keep it hidden, but it's really hard when I want to tell him that I like him.
When I told myself I would try to get info on Mark's sexuality by observing him. Let me tell you; easier said than done. He gives off no hint whether he is straight, bi, pan, or gay. i'm starting to get impatient, and desperate times call for desperate measures.
If anything, I would like to hope Danny and Arin have some type of info on him. He seems rather close with these two. I sent them a message telling them to meet me in the corner of the library ALONE (knowing then they would probably bring the whole lunch table and then some) during recess after first period.
I wait patiently in the corner with my mind racing. I rehearse in my head over and over what i'm gonna ask them, as I was thinking I thought that I should be straight up with them and tell them 'hey you know I just have a crush on your best friend!' but that would be weird. So i'm gonna try to avoid the questions.
The library doors open and close, I hear the faint and familiar giggle of the two. They see me and I wave at them and they approach the table.
"So Jack, what's up man?" Danny said pushing his curls out of the way.
"I have a question... about Mark." They look at each other and then look back to me.
"o-kay?" Danny nudges Arin with his elbow. Arin whips his head towards Dan, they communicate with only eye contact and then return to looking at me. They have a weird friendship.
"All ears man."
"I'm gonna be straight forward with this question." They stare in anticipation awaiting the question. "do you... um... know Mark's... *cough*.... sexuality?" They look to each other again then start to giggle and bust out laughing.
"boys..." We turn to see Ms. Ash standing there with a few books in hand. "please be quiet in the library. There are some students studying."
"oh yeah... sorry." I say to Ms. Ash. "Outside." I say sternly to the two jokesters.
We walk out of the library and go around to the back where no one was.
"Do you two have an answer for me?"
"We'll tell you." I beam, finally some answers! "Only if you tell us why you need to know." Oh no. I feel heat rise into my cheeks and I try to avoid eye contact with them.
"It's for a personal reason...."
"No reason, no answer." I feel beads of sweat forming on my upper lip and in my head i'm debating: either I tell them and get answers OR hide my secret and not get an answer. These guys are trust worthy and honest, it's not like they will tell everyone.
"promise you won't tell anyone?"
"We swear on our lives!" I take a deep breath and prepare to give them the answer.
"well... um... I may or may not... i don't know" anticipation is in their eyes as they wait for the answer to be revealed. I begin to have second thoughts about this, but i've already told them I would tell them. I force myself to finish the sentence.
"...have a tiny crush on Mark." Their eyes widen, I prepare for the answer.
"Ho. Ly. Shit." They have straight faces and I feel my stomach churn, i'm sure they're about to judge and ridicule me.
"YOU FUCKING LIKE MARK??!"
"SHHHHH! ARIN! you want to be any louder?!" I say coaxing him to be a little more quite.
"Holy shit dude Mark is Bi, but we don't know who he likes!" Danny says to me with the biggest smile. he's bisexual? I have a chance then!
"Jack, we could kind of tell you like him, you get nervous around him. And trying to cover it up doesn't really help." I blush harder, I was right when I said I was accidentally making it obvious.
"Don't worry dude. Me and Arin always have a plan for these kinds of things. I mean it worked to get Arin and Suzy together!" I look over to Danny, Arin has a huge smirk on his face.
"Danny are you saying what I think you're saying?"
"That's right big cat." I'm confused.
"what are you guys going to do?"
"simple. step 1: sleepover. step 2: truth or dare. step 3: profit."
