The next morning I woke up with Mark by my side again. It was always nice waking up seeing him there, it never got lonely.
I poke his nose a few times until he scrunches it and wakes up, his eyes slowly fluttering open.
"good morning." He says with a smile every morning.
"I booped the snoot." I say with a little giggle. He rolls his eyes and we both head out to the kitchen to make some breakfast.
We made pancakes together, it was so much fun since i've never made pancakes before. I was never really allowed into the kitchen back at home, it was my mom's "sacred space".
We both argued over who got to flip it or who got what pancake. It wasn't full out arguing, it was those small pointless argument fights where you aren't even mad, you're just there to tease the other person. It always ended with us laughing at how stupid we sounded when we try and argue with each other.
honestly, I don't think I can ever actually get mad at Mark. He's too sweet and too precious, I don't think he could do anything wrong in my eyes. sure he makes mistakes, but it's nothing to get frazzled about.
We downed our breakfast and got ready to head to the arcade with our group of friends. It wasn't all of us, but it was most of us. Ken was going, Felix, Cry, Arin, and Danny. Surely with all of us together, we're going to get kicked out of at least one place because of how loud we get.
It happened when we went to a Taco Bell. We all were in a corner of the restaurant, and we all were saying stupid things and laughing at it. I guess we got so loud that someone behind the counter decided to approach us personally (i'm sure she wasn't a manager) and tell us to leave immediately before she called security. A woman sitting next to us tried to stand up for us saying that were only teens having a good time. she got kicked out too.
We finished getting ready and we were out the door. I was excited to get out with the guys, we all sent in college apps and were all stressed. We totally need this today.
When we arrive we see everyone waiting outside.
"HEY GUYS!" Felix yelled as loud as he possibly could as he flailed his arms wildly to catch our attention.
"HELLO FELIX." Mark yelled as he stepped out of the car. I nudged him and we both start laughing.
"who's ready to have a good time?" Danny asked with an eager smile.
"from what I can see, I think Mark and Jack had a little fun last night already." Felix looks over at us and winks, Mark blushes a deep red, my eyes widened so much that I thought they would pop out of my skull.
"TH-THAT'S NOT TRUE! GROSS FELIX!" Everyone laughs.
"I know, I was just fucking with you..... wait. did you two fuck last night?" Felix says raising a brow.
"No, I was busy doing homework." I said rolling my eyes and pushing up my glasses. Mark still flustered coughs. "He couldn't pry me away from it even if he tried."
"Well, all gross assumptions aside... Let's get to the Arcade my dudes!" Arin says. I intertwine my hand with Mark's and smile up at him, he nervously smiles and we head in together.
We walk through the crowded mall together and head to the Arcade, Mark walks close to me and his grip on my hand tightens suddenly.
"Babe, why the sudden death grip?"
"Jack. Your mom." I shoot my head in the direction he was looking, and sure enough there was my mom, window shopping. "what are you gonna do?" I stop in my tracks and just stare for a bit, trying to think of what the fuck to do.
I know if I talk to her, she'll tell dad. But if I don't, i'm sure i'll regret it. I want to talk to her. I miss her.
"I-I." Mark stares at me. "I need to talk to her, and you're coming with me." I grab Mark by his wrist and were weaving through the crowds in order to catch up to my mom who was on the move.
We finally catch up to her, were right behind her. I begin to have second thoughts, but i'm here already, aren't I? I tap her on the shoulder, and she turns around.
"S-Sean?" She said with glossy eyes and a shakiness in her voice.
"Hi mom." Soon i'm wrapped in her arms and she starts crying. I hug back and I feel tears welling up myself. I missed my mom's hugs.
"My little boy, I missed you so so much. Things haven't been the same at home without you dear." she pulls away and has her hands on my shoulders and looks me up and down. "Your father has been a little more irritable, your siblings are awfully quiet which is something that hasn't happened in a while. as for me, well, i'm just glad to see you." Mark comes out from behind me.
"Hello mrs. McLoughlin. umm... long time no see." Mom's face lights up when she sees him.
"Marky Darling!" She hugs him too, a little too tight though, Mark was gasping for breath. "Have you been taking good care of my little boy?"
"Of course! I love him, why wouldn't I?"
"Such a good boy. you made a good choice dear, I don't care what you're father says, i'm happy you found someone you love." She said ruffling Mark's hair a bit, making it looked like an adorable disheveled mess.
"what else has been going on at home mom?" she turns to me, and the tone changes dramatically. something was wrong.
"Dear, I know I shouldn't say this to you, but you're here and i'm going to anyway. Ever since you left, father has been really upset, trying to find a way to get revenge on Marky for apparently corrupting you. Well, someone came in for a visit. Her name was Sarah... or Susan... or Sally..."
"S-Sierra..?"
"Yes! that's the name." Mark looks flushed, and i'm sure I do too.
"W-well what happened."
"I eaves dropped, heard her saying something about outing you guys to the school." Mark takes a breath and I look at him.
"Did she say anything else?"
"No. After that, she left."
"Well honestly, as long as I have Jackaboy with me, I don't care if i'm outed to the school. Because no one can change the fact that I love him." Mom's face lights back up with a smile, a hopeful one.
"I just thought I'd warn you while you were here, but i'm sure together and with your wild friends, you'll be able to conquer this." We all hug each other. "Jack, you go have fun with your friends, I miss you and I love you. Stay safe dearie."
"Yes mom."
