"Julie, are you ready to go?" My mom asked from the living room.
"Ready!" I replied, checking once more around my room making sure if I had everything I needed before leaving.
"Hurry we are going to be late." She shouted as she stepped outside to start the car. I quickly closed the front door and made my way to the car across the street. Unfortunately, as I was running over to the car I ran into somebody.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry!" I apologized to a boy who seemed my around my age. He had been carrying some boxes and thankfully he hadn't dropped them.
"It's okay." He smiled, shaking his head. I smiled back and nodded but continued to walk away.
"Julie, it looks like we have new neighbors moving in." My mom stated once I was in the car. She drove off as I buckled my seat belt.
"Yeah, I think I just bumped into one" I sighed as I looked at the boy through my window.
I'm Juliana, but I absolutely hate my full name and so I prefer Julie. I'm 14 years old, and I'm a freshman at Covina High School. Today is my first day of school and honestly I'm not prepared for today at all. Why can't I just hide away in my dark room and watch Netflix all day instead of having to deal with people I don't like?
Anyway as we made our way down the streets I kept thinking about Anthony, the guy I've liked since 7th grade, and of course the rest of my friends. The only thing I was prepared for was getting to see my friends again.
After driving in the car for a few more blocks, my mom finally pulled up along the side of the school.
"Bye mom." I said quickly and got out. I basically sprinted to the gym before the bell rang. I ran inside and spotted my friends sitting on the first step of the bleachers. I smiled and waved, taking a seat beside them.

At the end of school, I couldn't stop thinking about my conversation with Anthony today at lunch. I still can't believe that I talked to him today for the first time after two years of liking him. I know crazy right?
A car honk pulled me out of my thoughts. It was when I noticed that my mom was the one honking trying to get my attention.
"Hey mom" I greeted as I climbed into the car.
"Hi sweetie! How was school?" My mom asked as she pulled onto the street.
"Eh." I shrugged while pulling my hair into a ponytail since the wind was making my hair go everywhere.
"Great! So what do you want to eat?" She asked.
"Oh, I'm not hungry." I mumbled. She was going to say something but she decided not to push it any further, instead she raised the radio volume.
The rest of the car ride was quiet other than the music flowing out of the speakers. When we pulled into our parking space our new neighbors were out on the lawn, looking out onto the street, probably viewing their new home and neighbors.
My mom waved and smiled before heading home with me trudging behind her. I didn't even turn to look at them I was too busy thinking about school today.
I dragged myself up the stairs and built up the strength to open the door. I succeeded and entered the house to find toys being thrown everywhere.
"Melany and Kimberly stop fighting this instant!" I heard my mother yell startling both of my younger sisters.
"Sorry mom." They both apologized in unison. Melany is three and Kimberly is seven but to them, age doesn't matter because they do everything together and I'm absolutely positive that they hate me.
