Their answers were shared around the table, Dan looking very stressed next to Audi.
On one side of the table, Ashley, Ava, and Phil were chatting and laughing, comparing pancakes to waffles and arguing which was better. On the other side, two teenagers awkwardly made glances and small comments, not knowing what to say. Anybody looking at their table would be very confused as to why the sides were so different, almost different groups of people who didn't know eachother.

"So, how was the drive down here?"

"It was fun, I almost killed all of us."

Silence again.

"Oh.. How?"

"I was thinking and not paying attention.."

"Why would you think so hard while driving?"

"Just being my dumb self.. I was worried that you wouldn't like me or some dumb shit."

"Well I don't like you."

Silence filled between them and Audi just looked at him as if he'd slapped her, but to be fair, Dan's comment had felt like she'd been punched in the stomach and all of the air had left her lungs.

He suddenly laughed and pulled her against him,"I'm kidding. I would never say that to you."

Audi nodded and let out a couple of short laughs, relieved that he was kidding. "Well thank god, I was just about to drive back to Miami."

It was soon when Ashley noticed the awkward glances and started to include them into their debate. "So Dan, waffles or pancakes?"

"Pancakes, definitely."

Audi fake gasped, pushing on his arm, "ew, who are you? Waffles are the best thing in the world."

Now it was Phil's turn, who pointed a long finger at the people who favored waffles, "pancakes are the best. Youre all just taste blind."

"Taste blind?" Ava laughed, moving the silverware around in her small hands.

Phil just laughed, noticing how crazy he sounded. His eyes crinkled around the corners and his tongue rested between his teeth as he laughed his beautiful and contagious laugh. "I know it sounds weird, but I guess Americans just don't understand good pancakes."

Dan nodded and gave Phil a good high five, smirking around the table.

"If they're so good," Audi raised her eyebrows and looked at the two British boys, "then why'd you get waffles?"

"Because it's Waffle House and they only have waffles?"

"Dan, Ava got a pancake."

Then, once again, the debates on why three of the five of them were being hypocrites.

Soon enough, the waitress came, arms full of simple designed plates of waffles and pancakes, hashbrowns on the side.

Finally the awkward tension was gone between all of them, and they talked about topics other than waffles and pancakes, but nothing worth importance. They compared their levels on pokemon go and then got into a short debate on which team was the best (valor), talked about how they wish that cars were faster and had mini fridges, and how amazing it would be to fly. Good thing their personalities were so similar or they would've run off much earlier.
