"Have you eaten?"

"Yeah, before you got here. Did you?"

"I had ice cream."

The small conversation was a struggling attempt to distract them from the inevitable. They both knew Dan was getting worse, but they tried everything to ignore it.

"Hey Audi?"

"Yeah baby?"

"What time is it?"

"Almost 11."

"Come lay down with me."

A sudden relief washed over Audi as she listened to his words. His voice was beautiful despite the scratchy hints laced into his syllables.

"Give me a minute to get ready for bed?"

"That's fine."

She got up from his desk chair and turned the switch to his light, letting darkness cascade across the room. The only light came from the crack in the unclosed bathroom door, enough to let Audi see where she was going. She made her way over to his dresser, opening a wide drawer and taking out a plain white tshirt that would cover her past her butt. After stripping everything except her underwear, the shirt was slipped over her body, earning a exaggerated groan from the boy on the bed.

"Cmon Audi, just hurry up a little?"

She ignored him with a playful smirk, going into the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth. She could see him through the mirror and she watched as he admired her body and shape. She knew he adored her and it made her happy just knowing she was appreciated.

She turned on the sink to wash away the remaining toothpaste and wiped away the water on her hands. Tasting the cool mint in her mouth felt clean and good.

"Audi, come here," Dan groaned stretching out his hands in a grabbing motion. "Please, you're taking a long time."

This time Audi listened, pulling towards the boy like a magnet before swinging her leg over his waist, surprising him. But he wasn't disappointed as she raised her left leg to sit on the other side of him.

"Oh, this is different," he rubbed the bare skin of her thighs with his hands. "Could be fun if you wanna-"

He raised his eyebrows in a playful suggesting motion, sending both of them into a fit of giggles before he pulled her down by the shirt to lock their lips.

Dan sighed, all of his worries and problems washing away through their lips and out into the atmosphere if even just for the moment. It was what he needed for he knew the feeling wouldn't last much longer.

"Hey Audi?" He pulled back mere centimeters from her face. "Are you happy?"

Audi's face fell slightly as she wondered where the conversation was going, yet she replied with a yes and laced her fingers into his soft curls.

"Do I make you happy?"

Again, she replied yes.

"And you know that if you stay-" Dan laid his head on Audi's shoulder, letting out a deep sigh to keep all of his emotions in. "-If you stay, you won't be happy?"
