The Hunger Games 2 - The Flames

Chapter 7

Well , i couldnt have spent my 16th birthday in any other way but with people who were close to me. It was our second day into the arena , it was round lets say 5:35am , me and Mark decided to hunt for food while Aloe and Aunt Prim stay gaurd of our cave which we made ours. I grabbed on my bow and arrows and attached some knives to my belt incase i lose my bow , i didnt really care i had another one in the cave anyway , Mark had Aloes trident and his razors. "Makes sure you dont make too much sound with your feet" i whispered as Mark. "Got it" he replied trying to keep a backpack over his shouder.

I see a group of wild turkeys adhead in the forest below what looked like the grand cayons rocks , i take an arrow and attach it to the bow as a i pull back the string i instantly shoot 3 wild turkeys with one arrow , while i run over to the turkeys Mark had my back covered incase of unseen attack on us. Theres was no one to be seen where we were , i grab the backpack off the back of Mark and put in the three turkeys we could eat later. Theres a sudden crackle of twigs no far from us and a knife flies over Marks shoulder , His reaction was quick as he lift the trident and threw it in a direction the knife came from , we ran over to retrieve Aloes trident and to see that we have killed 'Madral' disctrict 1's best fighter. "Y-y-you two will be avenged by my partner you'll see!!" Madral says his final words and mark and I look at him in disgust , " Have fun in the after life cause you wont enjoy it" Marks says pulling the trident out from his chest and wiping it clean with his jumpsuit sleeve.

We were now heading back to the cave hand in hand as a silver parachute lands in our pathway , "Whos it for?" I asked Mark looked up to see that he was covering the sun for me. "Not sure , think its for you why dont you check it out , i'll keep watch" , i gaze into his starlight blue eyes "What?" , "You dont have to be so over protective for me , its my turn to watch out" , " I love you thats all" , "I love you too but you open the parachute i'll watch" re-swinging the backpack on to his back. We walk up to the parachute which landed a few paces ahead of us , Mark bent down and opened the parachute as i search the surroundings for danger , i see a rabbit near a huge boulder near where iwas , i shot it as i see a head pop out from behind.

"HOLD IT RIGHT THERE BOY!" i shout with all my might as Mark turns around seeing and recognizing the boy behind the boulder and giving him an angry face. Mark puts what seem to be a roll of bandages amd a bread from district 5 , "Surrender or die" as i point my arrow towards the brown headed boy. "Im not here to kill you , your father sent me here to help you" , "YOUR NOT HELPING HER! AND YOUR NOT GOING ANYWHERE NEAR HER YOU UNDERSTAND ME YOU BOZO!" Marks anger rises as he attachs the silver tin to his belt and wrapping his arm around my waist for protection. "I wont do anything i promise" i lower my bow and guesture him to come over , "If my dad told you to help me wheres the proof?" , he pulls out a gold mockingjay chain and shows me , "Your father gave it to me to show you that im on your side not the capitals" , "Okay , under one condition" i accept his join to our allie "whats that?" , "You have to leave my dad and my boyfriend alone after we win this do you understand" i snap at him , "Understood .... my names Jake Redhood" , "I dont care who you are" Marks snaps at him causing a fight , "STOP IT < BOTH OF YOUS BEHAVE WILL YOU" i shout inbetween them. "Grab that rabbit , take the arrow out of it and stick the arrow back in the container on my back and put the rabbit in Marks backpack will you Jake", he does what i say.

The guys were getting along on the way back to the gave that was 7ft above us , i pause 5meters behind them "Babe , come on!" Mark shouts as i look ahead to see that they have stopped to wait for me to catch up. "You go on , i'll be there in a few mins i need a word with the capital" i shout back as they nod and climb the rocks to the cave. "ALRIGHT SNOW , YOU'VE RETURNED FROM THE DEAD I SEE THAT , BUT DID YOU HAVE TO REALLY BRING BACK PAIN ! , I SWEAR I WILL KILL YOU AND KEEP YOU DEAD WHEN THIS GAME IS OVER AND EVERYTHING WILL GO TO HOW IT WAS BEFORE YOU RELIVED!" I shouted directly at the sky pounding my fist against the rock. "WATCH ME" i say my last rant as i begin climbing the rock soon arrviving at the cave in 2min.

A huge fire was lit and the turkeys and rabbit were skimmed and put on the fire to cook. "What did you do down there? i heard you shouting" Aloe asked , hes always been that 10 year old boy who alway loved to ask questions that annoyed me , " I said to snow that i wil avenge him and take him down and let him return to the dead and never rise again." it went silence "That cant happen , my mentor said we need to find a potion and trick him into drinking it and that if he drinks it he will be dead for eternity"Jake said bursting out " Well , its going to happen! , when we win we will kill him once and for all." my determination  was said , remembering the mockingjay attached to my jumpsuit. ' You must bring down snow for me , as now i cant but there i am a lost soul from the 74th games'  a voice said me to as a gasp in shock , "Babe .. whats wrong?" Mark said flipping around the turkeys and rabbit , "I heard a voice when i touched the pin" , "A voice? who of Amanda?" Aunt Prim got up and sat near me , " Im not sure , it was a little girls voice" , "What did she say?" , " She said I must take down snow and that she was a lost soul from the 74th games" ," did she say anything else?" , "Not that im aware of" , the sound of the anthem playing followed by 5 cannons were shot signaling more deaths , we were down to 14 since day 1 now a lose of 5 , we must be down to 9 tributes me and my 4  and another 4 yet to still be killed.

"HAVE FUN YOU STUPID LITTLE TRIBUTES LEFT!" a gamemakers voice gets control of the arena , "Oh and i forgot , all tributes from each district has a bag near the corcouica containing valueable stuff and things to save your pityful useless lives , be there tomorrow to collect it" the voice says again as a loud eekk sound signals that hes off. I look down at my pin and touched it again ' Go to that feast with Jake , make sure you aunt Prim stays in or she dies of having a spear shot into her heart like i did , make sure your all safe , i'll protect you' i whisper back to the hidden soul in the pin "I understand" , the faces of the 5 dead tribute show in the sky before the annoying antheme played once more. We all tucked in on the food and left 1 turkey and half with the turkey we had on the first day.

"Mark what was in that parachute we got earlier?" i remember the parachute attached to his belt , " Oh it was some sort of roll of gloves that handles the turkeys sharp skin and an oniment for Aloes cut he recieved." , "That would be helpful for our injuries we could put it into Aunt Prims bag" as i mentioned Aunt Prims name i looked at her "Aunt Prim , Me and Jake will collect the bags at the feast tomorrow , and i want you to stay in here with Mark and Aloe" eyes glare at me , "Your not going to that feast i will " Mark spoke up "Your not going Mark , i have to go ,the soul in the pin told me to go and im going" , "So you listen to  a  pin and not me?" he answers rudely back " If you want to have old memories and a soul protecting you then i have too" , "Soul protection? " Aloe asks in his confusion ," The voice that spoke to me as i touch the pin , she said she'd protect us and make us safe" , "So a soul said she will help us?" Jake asked , "Yes , and if we make run out the feast after we've collect both 12 and 5's bags we're safe"

It was agreed with everyone that i and Jake would go to the feast and collect the bags and make a quick get away after we got the bags. Everyone was alseep , so i walked outside the cave and sat on the ledge, i sat there determined to have 5 victors this year or 4 taking Jake out. "You cant sleep ?" a voice said as it sat next to me , i turn my head to see Mark , " I cant sleep with thinking that im going to lose Aunt Prim and my mum not talking to me , she will be broken after i promised her that i'll protect her sister" , " Its alright , since me and aloe are staying behind while you and Jake head out to get the feasting bags we'll make sure she doesnt leave. The words made me smile
