Seth, Zerena, and I were sitting at my kitchen table playing card games as we ate dinner. They'd come over after school and my mom ordered they stay and eat with us. Then her and my step-dad took off and left us to eat alone. I swear, sometimes...just sometimes.

"Blackjack bitches!!" Zerena shouted as she flipped her cards right side up.

"That's not possible! You cheated!" Seth argued.

"You're the one dealing the cards bro. Don't hate me cuz you ain't me." She sat back and crossed her arms with a smug smile on her face.

"You two are unbelievable," I sighed.

They didn't even move at my words. They were having a stare down at the moment.

"I give up!" Seth threw his hands in the air and got up to grab more pizza.

She chuckled, "your evil," I told her and shook my head with laughter.

"I know," she said and also got up.

"I'm done with blackjack. What next?" I asked.

"I'm too tired to play anything," Zerena said, "I'm just gonna crash in your guys spare room." She stretched her arms up and yawned.

"Night Z. Love you," Seth kissed her forehead.

"Night S, love you too. Night Dean," she waved her hand at me and walked up the stairs.

  "Night Zerena," I said.

Seth and I finished our plates of food and went to bed ourselves. He took my couch and was out like a light. It took me longer to fall asleep but once I did I was out like a rock.

The week flew by and it was finally Saturday. I was sleeping peacefully when my phone went off. I grunted and grabbed my phone off my nightstand.

"What?" I growled.

"Well no need to be an asshole I'm only reminding you that you need to be here in... Five minutes," Zerena said.

My eyes shot open, "what time is it?"

"It's almost three in the afternoon. Why?" She paused. "I woke you up, didn't I?"

  "Uhhhh, ya. Pretty much."

"Hm. Sorry, not sorry. Just get up and get your ass over here before Seth throws a fit when he finds out you're not here," she hung up.

I groaned and threw my phone aside. I sat up and looked around my room at my walls with a forest painted on them, my black curtains, and the brown doors. I slowly slipped out of bed, into the closet and got dressed.

It was the twins birthday and I knew that if I wasn't there, I'd never hear the end of it.

I pulled up in front of their house and got out. I walked in without knocking, knowing they wouldn't care, and found Zerena.

I wrapped my arms around her from behind, "happy birthday beautiful," I whispered in her ear.

She turned around to hug me back, "thank you. And Seth is in the kitchen."

I nodded and walked to find Seth. We bro hugged and I wished him a happy birthday.

"Thanks man," he smiled at me.

The house went quiet as Zerena got on the table with a mic.

"Alright, hey guys," she waved at everyone, "thanks for coming to my brother and I's birthday party. We're really happy that you all showed and thank you for the presents. And food. You can never go wrong with food," some people laughed, "anyway I'd like to invite my friend Dean up here to say a few words." She looked at me and I froze. I didn't know she wanted me to do something like that, she never had before. But then again, you only get one 18th b-day so might as well make it your best.

I slowly walked up to her and onto the table. I cleared my throat, "uh thanks Z. I wasn't expecting to say anything so bare with me. Growing up, these two were always around. They're my best friends and my family. I don't know what'd I do without them. Ok so I lied, I would sit and enjoy the peace I'd have with them gone," people laughed at my statement, even the twins, "but still I love them. So here's to the weird, disfunctional, insane family that we're apart of." I raised my cup, which was really only water, I didn't want anything else, and slugged it back.

"Cheers!" They sang and followed suit.

I walked back over to the twins and Zerena was crying a little from laughing while Seth was trying to hold in his laughter, "what's so funny?" I asked them.

They both just couldn't hold it and bursted with fits of laughter. "That was beautiful!" Zerena said and hugged me dragging Seth in with her. We had a group hug until Zerena decided to let us go.

I sucked in a deep breath, "I can breathe!" I exclaimed.

She playfully glared at me, "shut up."

  "No thanks."

  "Thanks man," Seth said.

  "No prob."

After every one had left it was close to midnight. Zerena was passed out on the couch and Seth was having trouble staying standing up.

I picked up Zerena and carried her to her bed and tucked her in. I went back to Seth and slung his arm over my shoulder. I swear most of my arm strength is from carrying the two up and down stairs so much. I threw Seth on his bed and plopped down on his couch.
