Dean's POV
I walked into my house and dropped my keys on the table. I got to the kitchen and before I could do anything my parents came barging in, screaming at each other.
I quickly backed out and ran to my room. I listened to their argument, as I always do when I'm home, and when I heard the word divorce come out of my mom's mouth I froze.
It took me a couple minutes before it fully processed and I moved to the top of the stairs so I could hear them better. When I heard them arguing about getting a divorce and the custody issues I pulled out my phone and texted Seth and Zerena, asking them to come over.
I explained what was happening and they said they were coming. I was walking to the front door when my parents stopped me.
"Dean. Come here please," my mom said.
I slowly walked over to the living room and waited for them to speak.
"Dean. Your father and I are getting divorced. Who do you want to live with? And what are your conditions?" My mom said sternly.
The doorbell rang at that moment and I quickly hopped up and ran to the door. I opened it and quickly filled in Seth and Zeren in what was happening they both slightly gasped.
We walked back to the living room where my parents were arguing again. We sat down on the couch and waited.
My mom finally turned to me, "well?" she yelled and waved her arms in the air.
"Well, what about partial?" I asked trying to not seem like I'm choosing a side. I would so much rather live with my mother then my father but I didn't want to hurt my dad's feelings.
"No! It's one or another and then we work out small visits in between!" My mom roared.
"But Sofia that's not fair! We both know he loves you more than me! He's a momma's boy!" My dad yelled.
"Well Harold, life's not fair! And if you wanted a chance with him, maybe you should have been there when he was younger!" My mom answered.
"I know that! But I couldn't be! Not with my work! If I didn't work as much as I did we would be broke and homeless!! Would you want that?!"
"Enough!!!" I roared and stood up. Zerena jumped slightly and sent her a quick apologetic look. She gave a sheepish smile and looked down.
I turned back to my parents, "you guys have been going at each other's throats for years! I can't remember the last time either of you have been in the same room for more than five minutes without arguing! Why don't you just the hell up! Life's not fair! Divorces aren't fair! But guess what! It's what you two need! To split up! Neither of you have been much of a help to me most of my life! All you do is argue! You argue about this and that! And for once I'd like you two to just shut up!"
Everyone was taken aback. My mother looked close to tears and my dad looked pissed. "Why do you think I spent so much time at the Carters'? Why do you think I spend so much time at the Carters'?"
"Well that's kinda self-explanatory. One's your best friend and the other's your girlfriend. Why wouldn't you spend all your time there?" My mom jumped in.
"That's not just it though. Even when I was little, I learned to get out of the house every time an argue ensued. I went to the Carters' because they've been more of a family to me then either of you ever have!" I screamed. I decided I couldn't be here anymore and walked out.
Seth's POV
Once Dean walked out, Zerena and I shared a look and quickly hopped up, chasing after him. We had to run a bit to catch up with his fast pace but we managed to catch up and stay beside him.
"Dean are you ok?" My sister asked. She was rubbing his arm, trying to comfort him.
He didn't answer much less speak to her and kept walking. I shook his other arm, "Dean? Hey buddy. Stop and look at me." No response.
"That's it!" I stood in front of him and stopped him, "look, I know that your angry right now but you gotta talk to us man. We're your friends, your family really. You gotta talk to us," I stared him down.
He stopped and looked me in the eyes, "I don't know if I can," he started to shake and soon, tears were streaming down his cheeks.
"Oh baby," Zerena slightly gasped and quickly hugged Dean.
"Alright come on. We're going home," I said and lead Dean and Zerena back to Dean's house where my car was.
Zerena's pov
It's been a couple hours since we brought Dean over. We were all in Seth's room with Seth on his bed and Dean and I on the floor. I was leaning against the couch with Dean laying down next to me, his head on my lap.
I kept running my fingers threw his hair and humming to try and get him to stop crying and go to sleep. He's had silent tears streaming down his face since we got home. I've tried everything to help and nothing seems to work. I even tried putting on a movie to get his mind off the situation for a bit. That failed.
I looked down at him, "Dean? Hey, look at me."
He slowly turned his eyes so he was staring directly into my eyes. "What can I do to help? I can't sit here and watch you cry and suffer for any longer."
He shrugged, "I don't know what you can do. I need to deal with this in my own."
"No you don't. Dean I love you. I'm here if you need me. And right now you need me."
He sat up and looked at Seth, "let's go in your room so we don't wake him."
I nodded and got up. I helped Dean get up before walking to my room.
