We walked into a Johnny Rockets for lunch.  After we ordered our food, Zerena's phone pinged from a text. She looked at it and her smile faded.

  "I have to go," she answered and got up.

  "What? Zerena what's wrong?"

  "Nothing. But I have to go. I'll call you later. Promise," she pecked my check and ran out while I stood there, looking dumbfounded.

Zerena's POV

  I ran out of the Johnny Rockets and towards the parking garage area of the outdoor mall. I found my car with my friend, Chase, waiting in it.

  "Hey Chase," I waved as I got into the drivers seat, "alright. Give me a minute. I haven't been in my baby in awhile." I leaned on my dashboard and took in the woodsy scent. I adored my car, more than almost anything else. She's an SS Chevrolet and she was gorgeous.

  "Alright, c'mon. We gotta go before your boyfriend notices us sitting here and before you miss the race."

  "Right, ya." The engine roared to life and I quickly pulled out of the garage and sped towards the grounds.

~~~
  I pulled up in front of the office area at the grounds. Chase and I walked up to the main office and I told the secretary I was here to race. She nodded, handed me the racing schedule and walked away. Our races weren't illegal per say. It was what we did during or after the races that was illegal, but anyway we had a very nice set up and office area for our races.
  I filled out the paper and scheduled a couple races. I was on the next race but right now I had to deal with a certain someone.
I stepped out of the office and walked towards the starting line of the tracks and towards a group of people. Some of them noticed me and parted so I could get to my target.
"Logon," I hold a steely gaze towards him.
"Zerena," he returns my gaze but it's not quite as hard as mine. There's a little fear in it.
I was never one for fighting but I sure hell could kick your ass if you pushed me. And when it came to racing, ain't nobody won against me. Plus out here at the grounds, we pay to race. I haven't lost a race since my beginning weeks of racing. It was actually Logon who taught me how to race at places like this. We dated awhile back and he taught me how to race like a pro. Now the student had bested the teacher and I have always won.
"I heard you started some trouble with my friends," I continue.
"Ya. So? What are you gonna do about it? Bitch slap me?" He chuckled and his posse laughed with him.
"I'll do a lot more than bitch slap you," I raised my fist ready to throw the punch to his face.
Chase caught my fist before I swung, "not now. You need to calm down."
I nodded. "If you ever threaten me or my friends again. I swear on my life, that I will not hold back," I spat at Logon and walked back to my car.
"Don't let him get under your skin," Chase warned.
"I know, I know. He's just so frustrating," I threw my fist and stopped it just before it hit my car. I didn't want to hurt my baby. So I stormed into the gym we had by the office and threw a couple punches at the punching bag.
  "Better?" Chase, having followed me to make sure I didn't take anyone's head off, asked.
  "Just peachy," I grunted.
  He gave a lopsided grin, "good. Cuz it's time to race."
  I smiled evilly, "finally."
~~~

  I revved the engine of car to life. It roared with horsepower and I waited for the signal to start the race. When the signal came I sped off onto the track.

  I twisted and turned with the road and drifted when needed. There were a couple times when Logon almost passed me but I quickly sped ahead and in front of him. I won by a minute or two and parked my car. I got out without turning off the engine and waited for Logon to catch up.

  When he pulled up I walked over to his car, "pay up," I smiled, holding out my hand.

  He grumbled something under his breath and slapped a couple hundred into my hand. I was saving up for college. Well that and probably a couple new pairs of shoes and clothes. Just because I'm a badass don't mean I can't have style.

  The rest of the race went on like that, me winning and getting more money... Blah blah blah.

~~~
  I walked into my house quietly hoping my mom was asleep. I didn't mind so much if Seth saw me. He knew where I was and what I was doing. It was only 10:45pm so I guessed he'd be awake playing games or something. But nothing of what he was doing.
  As I passed his room I noticed that the light was off and just guessed he went to sleep. I walked into my room and closed the door before turning on the light. I turned around and almost screamed at seeing my brother laying my bed, awake, and with Dean right next to him.
  "Oh my god! You almost gave me a heart attack!" I yelled forgetting about mom being home. I covered my mouth soon after to quiet my yelling.
  "Don't worry mom's not here. Had to leave again," Seth rolled his eyes, "anyway. Wanna tell me where you were?"
  I looked at him like he was stupid, "you know where I was." I pulled off my shoes and hoodie and threw them on the floor of my closet. I closed my closet door and changed into sweats and pulled my hair up into a messy bun before stepping out of the closet.
"So why haven't you told Dean? He has a right to know," Seth argued.
"That's my choice to make, not yours. And I'm not ready to tell him!" I shouted.
A pained look spread across Dean's face and he ran out of the room. I huffed and followed him.
"Dean it's not what you think. Whatever it is that you're thinking, it's not that. It's just a trust issue. I haven't exactly had the best luck or choices when it comes to guys and the trustworthy part of my brain just isn't there yet. I trust you just not enough yet. Dean please stop walking away. Dean come back," I chased after him, "Dean!"
He stopped. I stood in front of him trying to catch my breath. "Do you love me?" He whispered, not meeting my eyes.
"I don't know yet. We've only been technically together a day or two. I can't honest answer that yet. But I can tell you," I took his hands in mine and lifted his face so he was eye level with me, "that I like you, a lot. And it's not your fault and it has nothing to so specifically with you on why I can't tell you this. I'm just not quite there. You need to give me some time. That's all I ask for."
