Chapter 19: Beasts

Althea's POV

"We are freaking home!" Mary shouted at the top of her lungs.

"Yes you are. Congratulations." GM said with a pleasant tone. She then roam her eyes and smile. "Come here, the three of you. Welcome to our humble abode."

Sam looked at Seth and Espher with a worried look, he then walk around the two, stretching his arms at the their back and pushed them lightly. He reminds me of my former classmates when they are sent to the principal's office.

"They are a big help." Mariko said in a proud manner.

"If it weren't for them, we won't be able to succeed." Gab butted in with a cheerful tone.

"Group hug!" Meryl shouted in a very cheerful manner.

Everyone gathered around her while extending every individual's arms, John did the same too, so there is no reason to decline the invitation of a group hug. Well, Sam, Espher and Seth did the same. Indeed, this is a group hug.

Fastforward...

After telling them our adventure, we decided to eat our dinner and take some rest.

After the membership and oath-taking of the three new members, they were accompanied to their respective rooms, surprisingly, our guild house offer more rooms than expected.

As I walk towards the guildhall, new faces smiled at me. Maybe they are members of this guild. Some of them smiled gleefully, some smiled but appeared to be  too drained to mingle, while some are too preoccupied and didn't even budge when they pass by me. I really am genuinely afraid of attention, so it's fine.

"Hey, why won't you rest?" Sam approaches me and to be honest, I am a bit surprised.

"Same question goes for you." I smiled as I continued my journey to the kitchen.

"I don't know, maybe because I am too fond of sleeping in caves. I'm too fond of the wilderness, to be exact." Sam blurted as he crosses his arms and rub each hands at his elbow. Maybe an indication of a quick nostalgia.

"You'll be fine." I really don't know how I can make him feel alright, safe and secured.

"By the way, you wield your mana with such prowess and not to mention, your mythical friends are amazing! " I tried to contain myself as I reminisce how good he is in a real battle.

"I owe it all to my mentor, my mother." He smiled at me, it really looks genuine, but the happiness forgot to reach his eyes, I can see the sadness in it.

I was about to approach him when he stopped walking and diverted his attention at me.

"Okay, I will take my leave, enjoy your midnight snack." Sam said with his eyes full of sadness, too far from his energetic persona.

I nodded as a reply, immediately after that, he halted his way towards the rooms, guess he'll sleep, he needs to rest, and with that I completely saw his other side.

I am about to reach the kitchen when a blinding light swallowed me. Then I felt the sudden drop of the temperature in the atmosphere. Cold. I am indeed freezing.

"HA-HA-HA, enjoying your stay here?" A crippling sound crawled over my body that sent shivers through my spine.

I began shaking and stuttering when I felt a cold wind pass through the back of my head.
