As I grabbed my things for the first class I would be getting into, I screamed my good bye to Liz. It's been a week since we started to live together for college. I walked out of my bedroom and found Liz in the kitchen.
"Aren't you going to wait for the girl I asked to tour you around the college?" she asked me and I shook my head.
"Nah, I have a printed map of the school with me." I grinned at her.
"Okay then, call me if a professor is shitty." She winks at me and I giggle at her. "See you later."
I nod at her and aimed for the door of our apartment. Once I opened the door, I squealed. A hand balled to a fist nearly pumped my forehead, probably the original intention was to knock on the door. I looked up and gasped at the owner of the hand.
"Andromeda?"
"Karlos?"
"What are you doing here?" we asked each other in the same time.
Liz clears her throat from behind me then I felt her walk over to me. She looked at me then to Karlos then back at me. "You guys know each other?"
"Yeah," We said in the same time again.
"You know him?" I asked Liz.
"Yeah, he's a best mate of mine." She says with a small smile as she point to Karlos before facing him. "How'd you two met? And what are you doing here, JK?"
"JK?" I asked.
"That's my nickname." Karlos speaks from the doorstep. "I am here because Bethany said she can't make it, she was sick. Then she asked me if I could tour your friend around the uni."
Liz sighs. "Poor Bethany," she runs a hand through her crimson hair. "Well, I guess I'll leave you with her. Be careful with her, she gets a little furious at most times and she probably ends up punching the life out of you."
Karlos laughs and I rolled my eyes. "Sure Lizzy, see you around."
Liz nods to Karlos before we walk away from the apartment. Karlos smiles down at me as a greeting and I smile up at him. Height difference is a bitch.
"So, what does JK stands for?"
"JuanKarlos." He answers and looked ahead. "You could call me JK if you want."
"Nah, I like calling you Karlos a lot more than JK." I said. "You never told me that you study in Hillcrest."
"Sorry about that, but I've been a little occupied the past days." He explains. "Sorry if you feel like I've been ditching you. I can make it up to you. In fact, I have an idea on how I could!" I looked at him like he grew a third head but he just smiled at me. "I'll treat you for lunch today, what you say?"
I grinned. "Sure."
-
Turns out, Karlos and I were classmates in Literature. It was good though, at least I don't have to introduce myself to someone then have some awkward conversation with them. Karlos once again saved me some slack.
We went in the lunch hall and as promised, he treats me with lunch. The cafeteria food in the school looks a little bit more appetizing than I thought, but my heart and stomach still loves Annie's cooking and it'll be loyal for her.
"I don't care if you liked Neely's character! He was an asshole to Cameron." I whined to Karlos once we finished eating our foods but was too lazy to dispose our utensils. "I mean, what kind of man would leave his girlfriend just for a stripper who has bigger boobs? I swear, Neely put a damn Casanova to shame for doing that."
"Well, at least he set Cameron free and cut her some slack." He shrugs.
My mouth widened. "Cut her some slack? Are you insane? He broke her heart and left her hurting for ten years! Ten years, Karlos! Can you imagine being heartbroken for that long?"
"You're really taking this seriously, don't you think?" he asked me, amused.
Right at classes, Karlos and I had this bright idea of reading JohnGrisham's Bleachers. We apparently finished the whole book for the period because our professor ditched on us. We're obviously both affected with the part when Neely left Cameron in the story because he turned to be a conceited football player and had almost all girls after him. Cameron was his girlfriend that time but when he finds this stripper with bigger boobs, he became head over heels for the girl (or her boobs, I wasn't sure). Then ten years later, he came back for Cameron.
"I just think that a girl as sweet as Cameron's character doesn't deserve a jerk like Neely." I said, "And besides, Neely wasn't an Oscar winning actor to do that to Cameron. A boy who's committed to a girl is not allowed to hook up with someone, whether the other girl has bigger boobs or not."
Karlos laughs and shakes his head. "Okay, let us not talk about boobs in here. It gets awkward for a boy, you know?"
"Shouldn't boys get a hard on or something when it comes to booby talks?" I asked him, amused at the reaction I got from him. Karlos blushed for the first time and it was a cute sight to see.
"Oh god, now please don't talk about boys' lower region and what happens when we're aroused." He groans and I laugh at him.
"I'm messing with you, come on. We better move for the next class we have. Lunch doesn't last forever."
He groans again. "How I wish it does,"

The class ends and I was with Karlos still. There weren't much of friends around, only him and Liz so there wasn't much of a choice. But I am not actually complaining. Their company was definitely comforting in a good and twisted way.
"Karlos," I called him and he hums before turning to me. "When we talked about that feeling I feel because of my amnesia, why did you say that you want to feel as empty as I feel?"
His smile falls. "I... uh, do we really need to talk about this?"
"Yes, I want to know."
"Why?" his voice was low.
"Well, we consider each other friends." I shrug and told him. "So might as well share some dark secrets with one another, yeah?"
I didn't realize that we stopped walking and we were in the middle of the clear grass field of the uni. It was good that we weren't in some sort of a football field or something, the ball might hit me. Although a part of me tells me that if I do get hit by a ball, there's a chance that I get my memories back. But the idea sounds too painful, so never mind.
"You have a point." Karlos says, snapping me back from my nasty imagination. "Well, should I tell it to you now or some other time? I'm sure someone from comatose needs a lot of rest."
I laughed at him. "I've been stable for the past weeks, a month actually. I'm not really that critical anymore." I told him, amused that he thinks I'm that fragile. "Say, do you want me to treat you with some drinks and chips or you'll do that?"
He looks at me directly in the eyes and there was this feeling in the pit of my tummy that was very weird for me to decipher. His eyes were like his smile that was always warm and welcoming.
"Nah you do that. Let's crash in your place as well." He decides.
