With a pounding heart and head, I knocked on Colleen's door. There is no way on earth that I can figure out of how I should tell Karlos that I found his mom. There's no confirmation yet, but my gut feel tells me that there's no need for the confirmation, since the evidences seemed like shouting it to me already.

Marj is the mom of the kid that I almost want to consider as my baby sister. She is the mother that left Karlos and Colleen alone and didn't even bother to come back when their father died. She abandoned the two most important people in my life. I have no idea if I should be angry of her for doing so, or be thankful that she showed up and tries to help her kids by secretly paying the hospital bills.

I was snapped back to reality when I saw Karlos' capturing brown eyes and pink lips. His smile managed to calm me down a little bit, but there was still the tingling feel in my gut.

"Hey, what took you so long? Your last message was like thirty minutes ago," he asked me.

I opened my mouth but clamped it shut as quick. How am I going to put it up? Oh, you know, I just saw your mom. Remember the lady I found in the pizzeria that I described as friendly? Guess what, she's your mom! And I just found her in the lobby earlier and found out that she was the one who paid the bills of your sister.

I can feel that my cheeks were getting a bit pale and that my ears were turning pink. This usually happens when I tend to feel nervous.

"I... uh... just... t-traffic." I bit my tongue. Great, now he'll find out that I am lying. Damn stutters.

Karlos didn't seem to buy the alibi. He lets me in and I was relieved to find Colleen asleep. "What really happened? You look like you've been drained, and you're stuttering. What's going on?"

Damn you for knowing me too well. I looked at him and tried to look for comfort from his eyes. I shook my head and mustered up a smile. "Nothing, really," I said, glad that my proper speech is back and no more stuttering.

His eyes searched mine, as if he can read me. Well, okay, he can. Karlos knew me too well that he can just identify if I am in a good condition or not. I tried to muster up a few more confidence so he'll be fooled.

When he noticed the façade I built up, he smiled. "Okay," he says then kisses me on the nose, "I know you just came here, but I was wondering if you can keep me company? I plan on going home for the moment, you know, shower and all."

I nod. "Sure," I said.

As usual, he did the same things that he usually does before leaving Colleen. I watched him intently. I started to wonder if Marj used to do that for Karlos when he was young.

I sat on Karlos' bed and waited for him to finish showering. The sound of the shower being shut off signalled that my boyfriend was done with his bath and he would soon emerge from the bathroom.

Right when his figure went out of the bathroom, I absentmindedly lunged at him and planted my lips to his in an instant. It took him by surprise, but it didn't take him too long before responding. I felt water wetting my clothes, and I figured that Karlos wasn't even dressed.

"Babe. What's wrong?" he asked. "Come on, tell it to me. I know you well enough. Your kiss feels different." He whispered.

I hid my face on his chest, letting the dripping water to just attach to my cheek. "I feel a little troubled," I gave him an alibi, "Can you please distract me for a while?"

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"Kiss me," I said, finally looking up at him, "Hard."

Karlos was confused for a while but there wasn't much that he can do when I pulled him to me. It was a good thing to have him only wrapped in a towel, there'll be no trouble in that situation, one pull and it would be the end of me.
