"You know that your speed rate won't take us to anywhere, right?" I asked Karlos.

His face turned a bit red. "Sorry! I'm just really tensed while I'm behind the steering wheel. For the record, I don't want to die."

I laughed at him. "You can always just make me drive. I don't complain anyway."

He rolled his eyes and peeked at me. "You do notice that with that massive gown and heels, you're going to put us both into a faster death, right?" he asks me and unfortunately, the guy has a point. My gown was indeed a little massive so are the heels I am wearing at this very moment. "And what kind of a man would I be if I let you drive for me? I feel bad enough for doing that to you almost every time."

"Again, I don't really mind."

Karlos was about to throw another come back, only being stopped when I told him that we were already in front of the event's place where the gala would be held. Mom told me that if I tell the man in the lobby's front desk my name, he'll give us the directions to the main hall for the exact venue of the event.

The two of us started to unbuckle ourselves before exiting the car. Karlos went beside me in a quick stride, his hand founding mine. I took notice of how cold his palm was. "Nervous?" I asked him.

He looks at me. "Not if you're beside me."

I ignored the red that crept its way to my cheeks and the army of butterflies that flies around my tummy. "You're being a cheese ball again, Labajo."

He laughs at me and we went inside the lobby, finding the front desk and is soon on our way to the main hall. I noticed someone familiar standing by the door frame of the venue's entrance. He was wearing almost the exact same thing that Karlos is wearing; only he has it a little more formally. He turned to me and a smile instantly makes a way to his features.

"Hi, Andromeda, you look as dazzling as always," he smiles at me, his small eyes getting smaller as he smiled to my direction before grabbing my hand and kissing my knuckles.

"Hi, Darren." I smiled at him then gestured to Karlos. "I'm sure you know Karlos."

His eyes narrowed to Karlos before getting back to me. "Of course, I know him." he smiles at me then makes a hand shake with Karlos. "Good to see you, man."

Karlos smiles down at him a little, since he was taller than Darren. "You too,"

I will not deny the fact that I am a little agitated with them seeing each other again. I mean, it's been a long time and the last time they saw each other, they looked like they wanted to rip each other's head when they get the chance. It was weird to see the two of them right now, hand shaking and smiling. It felt like I am in a different dimension.

"Your mom is waiting for you inside," Darren says to me. "She told me to wait for you out here."

Annoyance stitched itself to me again. Of course, mom planned this well. She must have thought that if she put Darren to wait for us here and meet me and Karlos outside, there would be some sort of an argument. She knew that there was a past behind the three of us. If that happened, she will have the chance to embarrass Karlos, or even me. Probably, she wants to ruin our nights. I won't give her the fucking satisfaction.

Ignoring the anger that bubbles up inside me, I nod at Darren. "Well, let's get inside then." I told him and he walked at the other side of me, him and Karlos escorting me to the gala's set up.

When we got inside, the room was lit a little dimly, only party lights illuminating the surrounding. There was music played by musicians at the small stage in the middle of the area. Tables were scattered, so were people. A long table was placed at the other side, its surface filled with all sorts of food. Everybody was dressed in their best, showcasing how rich they practically were.
