My eyes trailed up the arm to look them directly in the face. Whatever anger had been bottled up inside of me was gone. It was replaced by an enormous smile instead.
"You're awake!" I gushed, rising from my chair and basically tackling him into a hug. Of course I was careful, seeing as how he was literally just in a coma, but I was far too excited to not touch.
"Is... Is that a surprise?" he looked around, seeming a little shocked.
I smiled, and brushed his cheek gently, "You've been out cold for a month, Kyoya."
"A-A month?! An entire thirty days?!" Kyoya couldn't believe it. I'm not sure is he was more shocked or pissed. The heart monitor spiked.
"Hey, hey. Calm down. Kyoya, it's okay. It's only a month. You're okay, I'm okay. Everyone is okay." I pressed a kiss to his forehead, "I'm going to get the doctor."
As I got up to leave, he grabbed my arm, "Kasumi, did they get him?"
The smile naturally flitted across my face, "Of course they did. There was never any doubt."
He let me go so that I could go find the doctor. On my way down the hallway, I met the nurse who had been taking his vitals everyday.
"Oh! Fujihara-San! He's awake! Kyoya woke up!" I told her, rushing up to her.
She smiled at me, "That's wonderful news, Kasumi. I'll go get the Doctor right now."
I bowed to her, "Thank you so much."
Instead of making me stay outside, the doctor invited me in for the exam. Of course I agreed. I feel like I'm floating and everything.
Kyoya was like a fussy child when it came to these test. He insisted that he was fine, but went along with them anyway, because they're protocol. You know what they say, doctors make the worst patients.
The doctor started making casual conversation with Kyoya, and the topic happened to be me. "You're very fortunate to have her," he told him.
"I am? Why?" Kyoya asked, looking from the light the doctor was holding to me. I simply sent him a smile.
"She's been here the whole time, staying by your side. Roromiya-San hasn't left the hospital since you've been admitted. The staff absolutely love her. Very polite."
Kyoya seemed shocked, now that they were on to the next test, he looked at me, "You stayed here? For a month?"
I nod to him, "You're here because of me, so I'm here because of you. That's how it works."
The doctor smiled, "And obviously very loyal."
Kyoya shook his head ever so slightly, "Kasumi, that's just ridiculous. Why didn't you go home? I'm sure people tried to get you to go home."
"Of course they did, but I wasn't having any of it. I wasn't going to let you wake up in a hospital room all by yourself. I was going to be here, no matter what."
He raised an eyebrow at me, "And what did Tamaki think of that?"
I crossed my arms, "I didn't care what Tamaki thought. I cared about you."
The doctor stood up, "Well, it looks like everything is in order. You'll be allowed to be up and move around by yourself, but you'll have to stay overnight for observation. Just to make sure that everything's all right."
"Thank you so much," I thanked the doctor, feeling a little sorry that he had to deal with Kyoya as a patient.
"Just doing my job. I'll leave you two to talk," and with that, he was gone.
