Who would have thought that the day would arrive so quickly? It felt like just yesterday there was fights about colour swatches, what dishes to serve the guests, so on and so forth. Yet here we are; standing inside of this beautiful chapel. It all felt so surreal.
"Are you ready?" the man who took my arm in his ever so gently smiled at me.
I couldn't refrain from sending him the exact same smile back, "As I'll ever be."
The beautiful music was being played by an expert violinist. The song was a violin instrumental rendition of 'Here Comes the Sun' by The Beatles and was absolutely gorgeous. The two of us began our descent towards the alter, and I couldn't help but smile at the man waiting there.
He wasn't waiting for me, of course, but I saw the excitement light up in his eyes because she was next.
I looked over and smiled at Kyoya, whom was escorting me down the aisle, whispering to him, "He looks so cute waiting for Haruhi. If you don't look at me the way I guarantee you he's about to look at her I'm turning and walking away."
His smirk became extremely evident, "You won't have to."
Of course I had only been joking, but his words reassured and comforted me. It was odd, Tamaki and Haruhi getting married before us, especially after getting engaged after us, but I was happy for them nonetheless. Even with the shortened time to plan their wedding, everything looked amazing. No doubt the work of Ranka and Yuzuru.
Kyoya released me as we reached the alter and moved to take his place directly behind Tamaki. The bubbly blond reached out and took my hand, giving it a gentle squeeze, and I immediately reciprocated before taking my spot.
Eight months ago, I was still convinced that I was in love with him, and now here I am, the maid of honour at his wedding. His wedding band is sitting on my thumb, waiting for me to pass to his soon-to-be wife.
The doors opened one final time, and the song changed to the ever-so-classic 'Here Comes the Bride'. Haruhi was marching in wearing a beautiful pearl white gown. It didn't have a train on it, so one of my duties was already done for me, and her veil was a sheer white fabric that covered her entire face.
I smiled when I heard Tamaki take in a sharp breath of air. He was 100% in love with the girl marching towards him. I couldn't be happier for him.
Ranka and Haruhi finally arrived at the altar. Usually he had some snarky comment for Tamaki, which were really terms of endearment, but today he simply nodded, and handed him one of his daughters hands. The rest of the ceremony went off without a hitch.
By the time they got to the Vows, I was already tearing up. Of course they had written their own, simply wanting to make my eyes water more. Thank goodness I came prepared and attached tissues to each of the bouquets. Number One maid of honour.
"Haruhi, from the moment I met you, something was there. The conversations were easy and natural, and I enjoyed every minute of them. You came into my life completely by chance, at a point at which I was slowly losing hope with the woman I thought I would love forever. We slowly started spending more and more time together, and it was like nothing I had ever felt before. When she finally left me, I was already falling in love with you, so I understood what it meant when she told me that we didn't have the love of lifelong lovers. What I have with you is that kind of love, and I'll never forget her for teaching me just that," his eyes left hers for just a second to look back at me with a smile, and then they moved back to her, "You came into my life completely by chance, and I am so damn happy that you chose to stay."
