The first thing that popped into Vienna's mind right after she woke up was: coffee. She needed coffee in the morning like people need air to breathe. The dark, warm liquid and the half- bitter taste always managed to make her feel better even on her worst days. But first, she had to change. She was still in last night's outfit and the makeup she wore was smudged, even though she wasn't wearing a lot of it. That's why she hated putting makeup so much, she felt trapped under it, but I guess being a girl means sacrificing some things to make a better impression or to look better, not only to others, but to yourself. She took a bath, but afterwards during looking at herself in the mirror, she noticed something was missing. The necklace! She thought she probably lost it somewhere and decided she would look for it in her room after she grabs coffee from Starbucks. She put on a grey BOY London sweatshirt and black leggings, since Autumn was starting to show it's slightly worse side, the cold weather. Vienna grabbed a hat and her phone and headed out, only saying hi (and goodbye) to her parents who were in the kitchen.
Regardless of how mean and rude this may sound, but she was extremely grateful she didn't bump into anybody she knew on her way to the Starbucks cafe. She just wanted some alone time and she wasn't in a very good mood since she still didn't get her first morning coffee. The warm air and the fresh smell of coffee overwhelmed her as soon as she opened the door. It was her turn soon enough and she ordered herself black coffee with no sugar since she was feeling a bit bitter and she always liked coffee to match her mood. Rain started pouring from the dark, grey clouds and she was happy she took a seat next to the window and din't decide to walk back home since she would be soaking wet. Instead she was at a warm, comfortable place, looking at drops of rain falling on windows then sliding down, leaving watery trails and listening to some music.
When she came home, the rain already stopped pouring but there was mud all over her New Balance sneakers. She talked to Renesmee and she told her she'd probably swing by at her place to hang out. She really wanted to discuss about the secret she kept from her for so long, ironically, she was keeping the identical secret, too. But before all of that, there was something she had to do. She picked up the jacket Ruby gave her from the edge of her bed and decided to stop by and return it, even though she was still embarrassed and awkward after last night's happening. Something was drawing her to the Australian, but she had no idea what. She always hated people like her: stuck up, too confident, cocky, flirty and wild, but eventually, without any cautions, she caught feelings for her and she couldn't run away from them. She stood in front of the door for a couple of minutes, still unsure whether she was ready to talk to her.
-Maybe it's too soon. Maybe I'll look pathetic. But it would be rude if I don't return the jacket. I need to talk to her. Maybe I don't.
Vienna was too busy arguing with herself that she barely heard the noises coming from inside. From breaking plates, to screams, yelling, slamming doors and fake accusations, she only noticed them when the pair arguing inside got closer to the door. Vienna had no intentions of eavesdropping or meddling into their problems, but she became genuinely worried about what was going on. She was about to turn around and leave, but she was stopped by the sound of door opening and two loud voices screaming at each other.
-I'm leaving! - Phoebe was carrying a suitcase and her purse.
-Good. That's the only thing you're good at, leaving!
They barely even noticed Vienna, or maybe they even ignored her presence. As she was putting her suitcase into her car, Phoebe turned around and glared at Vienna, now she was sure they saw her.
-Ruby, are you okay?
-I don't know. - she didn't even look at her.
-I came at the wrong time, I'm sorry. I just wanted to return you this. - she raised the jacket in her hand and gave it to Ruby.
Phoebe scoffed and made a disgusted face at the other two, then the blonde entered her car herself and drove off angrily, leaving her now ex lover standing in the doorway with her eyes full of tears.
-Thanks. Wanna come in? - Ruby was wiping a tear from her cheek and tried to keep her composure in front of the tattooed figure. Vienna couldn't help but feel sorry for her.
-Okay. I guess.
Vienna didn't even think she would have to walk over broken glass and porcelain, or look at the clothes scattered all over the place.
-I'm sorry it's a mess. - Ruby sniffed. - You've seen it all anyway.
-It's okay. Do you want to talk about it?
Ruby just shook her head and did the unexpected... She hugged Vienna. She hugged her tightly and the other one hugged her back like it was the last hug she would ever give to anybody. So she could put all of Ruby's broken pieces together. She stood like that for minutes when Ruby pulled away with a quiet "sorry" muttered under her breath.
-It's okay, Rubs, let it all out. Cry if you want to. Break something. Scream. Whatever makes you feel better. - the short girl was reassuring her.
-I don't think anything will help right now. I just need peace. And some alone time, if you understand.
-But you invited me in. - even though she didn't want to, she sounded offended.
-Vee... Do you think you could... Stay? I know this is contradictory to what I said a moment ago but what I meant was... I want you to stay with me.
-M-me? Why?
-You're right, this is silly.
-No. I'll stay.
-You sure?
-You need somebody to take care of you.
Ruby gave her a half- smile and thanked her for her act of kindness.
-Now go to sleep, I'll be there when you wake up.
-Promise?
-Promise.
-But the house is a mess and-
-I'll take care of that.
Vienna or should I say "Vee" escorted Ruby to her huge bedroom and tucked her in. When she got up and started to leave so she could clean up the mess Phoebe and Ruby made downstairs, Ruby grabbed her hand and said:
-Stay. Please.
Vienna sat back down and waited until Ruby fell asleep and then she fell asleep in a sitting position on the bed next to her.
